Position Objective:
The Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction provides districtwide leadership to drive CCSD59’s high\-performance culture by ensuring alignment between standards, curriculum, instruction and assessment. Our next Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction will work to support leaders and teachers to ensure that all CCSD59 students are provided with high\-quality, engaging instruction each day. The ED of C\&I reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must hold a professional educator license endorsed in general administration
- Must have a keen understanding of K\-8 curriculum research and trends
- Must have a minimum of three years administrative experience
- Must have the ability to travel to/from various locations in the district as needed
- Lead and support the improvement and implementation of district curriculum through a process of ongoing evaluation and revision that is consistent with district mission, vision, and strategic plan
- Support schools and principals with data analysis, instructional practice, and the execution of district and school goals
- Ensure that district learning outcomes and targets in subject areas are aligned to standards, inform the assessment system, and that the resulting assessment data is used for instructional decision making at the school and district level
- Support the creation and implementation of uniform district assessment programs (e.g. interim\-assessments)
- Collaborate with schools and other departments in the development and coordination of professional development opportunities
- Work with subject area leaders to plan for, direct, and support the implementation of new initiatives and resources, ensuring the collaboration and engagement of principals and other leaders
- Recommend changes in instructional policies, practices, and/or procedures that are research based and results driven
- Collaborate with schools and other departments in the development, coordination and implementation of Intervention planning during remote learning
- Direct and support the improvement and implementation of a district Professional Learning Community (PLC) model beginning with planning, training and development of common formative assessment across the district.
- Oversee and support remote learning supports, including the development of feedback structures and related communications
- Clearly articulate the mission and vision of the district to all members of the school community
- Maintain positive, cooperative, and mutually supportive relationships with staff and community members
- Possess knowledge of content standards, district policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibilities.
- Support the ongoing development of procedures and programming for acceleration, enrichment and and gifted/talented students
- Initiate and maintain two way communication channels with staff, leaders, and district to strengthen overall communication across the district
- Serve as an active member of the District Leadership Team (DLT)
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of state and federal grants
