Job Description Position Summary:
Performs paraprofessional services in the Support Services area of Library operations. Assists Support Services Manager with overseeing volunteer services. Duties include but are not limited to recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, training, providing support and recognition, expanding volunteer services, providing back\-up when volunteers are absent, and administrative duties.
Work Schedule:
- 19 hour per week position.
- Recruits, onboards, schedules, and trains volunteers.
- Provides ongoing support for current volunteers.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co\-workers, volunteers, and customers.
- Creates and distributes quarterly volunteer newsletter.
- Assists with volunteer records management.
- Assists with planning and organizing Library volunteer events and special volunteer recognition functions.
- Assists with volunteer service expansion initiatives.
- Performs general clerical duties for supervisor; serves as receptionist; greets/directs volunteers; copies and collates materials for distribution.
- Compiles volunteer statistics; generates reports.
- Maintains various digital and paper files; performs data entry.
- Provides back\-up when volunteers are absent.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of working with and managing volunteers.
- Knowledge of office equipment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
- Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System.
- Knowledge of Library policies.
- Skill using computers in a Windows environment.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate records, reports, and files
- Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
- Skill in interpreting and applying rules, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to learn and use integrated library software.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to adhere to a structured schedule with established start/end times and break periods.
- Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgement, and discretion in performance of duties.
- Ability to analyze and facilitate resolution of problems.
- Work is performed in a library environment and in community settings.
- Safely perform physically demanding duties involving repetitive standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stretching for long periods of time.
- Safely lifts, carries, and/or pushes materials including full book carts, book bins, and lifting tubs weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.
- Safely operates a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, laptop and/or tablet PC, telephone, calculator, copier, and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree and one\-year leadership experience with volunteers in a paraprofessional or professional capacity preferred or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training in a public setting, which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Possess a valid Arizona driver's license (or obtain one within 30 days) and have a clean driving record, depending on assignment.
