Job Overview
We are urgently seeking exceptional Paid Ghostwriting Apprentices—with a strong preference for current Ivy League\+ seniors, recent graduates (2019–2026\), based in or able to travel regularly to New York, Los Angeles, or Texas—to train directly under Erin Vargo, founder of Vargo Lit and top 1% of ghostwriters in the world (portfolio includes speechwriting and/or ghostwriting for the U.S. President, Forbes\-list CEOs, celebrities, and dignitaries).
This is a selective, two\-year apprenticeship aimed at fast\-tracking promising talent into independent, six\-figure commercial ghostwriting careers. In a time when AI threatens traditional entry paths in publishing, we are betting on human craftsmanship through the art of modern nonfiction storytelling. We believe that books are the wellspring of culture and legacy in Hollywood and beyond.
Compensation \& Earning Path
- Base Salary: $65,000 annually (paid as a professional entry\-level role during the apprenticeship phase).
- Commission/Bonuses: Additional earnings on every project assigned or originated—plus up to 100% of fees on any book deal you personally source and close.
- Expected Total Earnings: $100,000\+ within the first 6 months for strong performers (via base \+ commissions from real, high\-value projects).
- Long\-Term: After completing assigned projects and demonstrating mastery, apprentices graduate to full independence with no ongoing financial ties—equipped to command premium rates on their own.
- Work side\-by\-side with Erin Vargo and agent/publisher contacts (credits include major nonfiction bestsellers of recent years).
- Dive into real, payable projects within 60–90 days—including high\-profile memoirs, business books, and legacy projects for elite executives.
- Conduct deep research, draft compelling proposals, and write full manuscripts that meet Big 5 publisher and agent standards.
- Leverage your network (and ours) to originate premium book deals aligned with Vargo Lit's seed\-to\-shelf model.
- Travel occasionally (weekends) to Austin, New York, or Los Angeles for in\-person collaboration, client meetings, and elite networking.
- Uphold strict confidentiality on sensitive, high\-profile work.
- Commit to hands\-on mastery of human\-driven storytelling—using AI only for research/data aggregation, never to replace craft.
- Erin Vargo's complete 25\-year playbook: proven proposal templates that have secured multimillion\-dollar advances, plus frameworks for ideation, positioning, ghostwriting, editing, and launch strategy.
- Direct access to top\-tier literary agents who have placed blockbuster nonfiction.
- Intensive mentorship in classical literary approach—drawing from Greek/Roman myths, Shakespearean archetypes, modern literature, and Hollywood case studies.
- Exposure to Vargo Lit's writing collective: Ivy\-educated, classically trained writers focused on cultural impact over corporate metrics.
- Accelerated path to independence: six\-figure earnings potential as you help elite clients (business, political, and entertainment execs) build a platform and pierce the threshold to reach a critical mass audience (aiming to sell 20,000\+ copies).
- A values\-driven program: We focus on client reactions and legacy, and we cap our royalties on principle.
- Current senior or recent graduates (2020–2026\) from an Ivy League or equivalent top\-tier university strongly preferred.
- Obsessive dedication to the craft of writing with zero ego about bylines.
- Exceptional storytelling instinct, communication skills, and research ability.
- Demonstrated (or strong potential) to originate deals via personal networks.
- Based in (or willing/able to travel regularly to) New York, Los Angeles, or Texas.
- Passion for mastering human skills in developing nonfiction books to counter the disruption of AI in publishing; we are focused on legacy, emotional resonance, and cultural impact.
