MOBILE / FIELD MEDICAL ASSISTANT California Mobile Physicians / Mary Gessner\-Peterson Medical Group, Inc. Full\-Time \| Monday\-Friday \| Approximately 9:00 AM\-5:30 PM Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, organized, and proactive Medical Assistant to work both in the field with our providers and in our medical office. This is not a traditional clinic\-only MA position. Our providers care for patients in private homes, assisted living and memory care communities, skilled nursing facilities, and other residential settings throughout San Diego County. The MA supports the provider during visits, helps coordinate follow\-up care, and completes office\-based clinical and administrative tasks when not in the field. Field \& Clinical Responsibilities Review the provider's daily schedule and prepare required equipment, supplies, paperwork, and the mobile medical bag. Travel with or alongside the provider to scheduled patient visits and communicate schedule changes or delays as needed. Obtain and document vital signs, chief complaints, medications, allergies, pharmacy information, and other relevant patient information. Assist providers with examinations and procedures within MA scope and training. Perform ordered clinical tasks when trained and authorized, including blood draws, specimen collection, injections, EKGs, wound care, and point\-of\-care testing. Communicate appropriately with patients, caregivers, family members, and facility staff to obtain information needed for care. Document accurately and promptly in the EHR and assist with orders generated during visits. Coordinate labs, imaging, pharmacy, DME, referrals, home health, hospice, and other services as directed. Maintain HIPAA, infection\-control, safety, and professional standards in patient homes and facilities. Keep mobile equipment and supplies clean, organized, stocked, and ready for use; properly process specimens and paperwork after field visits. Provider Support \& Follow\-Through Actively support the provider rather than simply accompanying them to appointments. Anticipate what is needed for upcoming patients and help the provider stay organized throughout the day. Track orders, messages, and tasks generated during visits and communicate items requiring office follow\-up. Identify incomplete or unresolved tasks and ensure they are addressed or appropriately escalated. Maintain professional communication between the provider, office, facilities, patients, families, pharmacies, and outside agencies. In\-Office Responsibilities Answer and return calls from patients, families, facilities, pharmacies, home health, hospice, and other healthcare partners. Create and respond to patient cases/messages in the EHR and assist with prescription/refill requests for provider review. Process and follow up on provider orders, labs, imaging, DME, referrals, authorizations, and medical\-record requests. Review incoming faxes, scan/upload documents, obtain records, and route information appropriately. Assist with provider schedules, patient coordination, outstanding results, and completion of tasks generated from field visits. Assist other Medical Assistants and office staff as needed to support patient care and daily operations.Schedule, Travel \& Reliability Regular local travel is required. Mobile medicine is dynamic, and schedules may change because of patient condition, facility needs, urgent concerns, traffic, cancellations, or unexpected clinical needs. Some days may be primarily field\-based, while others may include significant office work. Arrive on time, ready to work, and prepared to leave for field visits when scheduled. Maintain dependable and consistent attendance and promptly communicate unexpected absences, emergencies, or travel delays. Adapt professionally to schedule and priority changes throughout the day. Remain engaged throughout the workday and complete assigned responsibilities or clearly communicate outstanding items before leaving. Professional Expectations Be proactive: identify what needs to be done without waiting for instructions for every task. Communicate clearly, ask questions when unsure, and promptly report problems or barriers. Follow assigned tasks through to completion rather than assuming that sending a message or order completes the responsibility. Work as part of the entire practice team and assist coworkers when patient\-care or staffing needs require it. Treat patients, families, coworkers, providers, facilities, and outside organizations professionally and respectfully. Maintain HIPAA confidentiality, professional boundaries, appropriate appearance, and responsible use of company equipment. Accept coaching and constructive feedback and remain willing to learn new workflows and responsibilities. Limit personal cell\-phone use to appropriate times and maintain clean, organized work and mobile\-care areas. Qualifications Medical Assistant education/training; certification as required for the position. Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required based on assignment. Previous MA experience preferred; geriatric, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, home health, hospice, or mobile\-medicine experience is a plus. Comfort with EHR systems, computers, mobile devices, and basic data entry. Strong communication, organization, multitasking, and attention\-to\-detail skills. Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a team. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the service area during the workday. Physical Requirements Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, enter and exit vehicles, carry routine medical equipment/supplies, use computers and mobile devices, and perform clinical procedures requiring manual dexterity. Work occurs in medical offices, healthcare facilities, and private residences. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable law. A Good Fit for This Role This position is best suited for someone who enjoys variety, independence, patient interaction, and working closely with a provider. Candidates should be comfortable moving between field and office responsibilities, adapting to changing schedules, taking initiative, and following tasks through to completion. We provide training on our workflows; we expect dependability, professionalism, willingness to learn, receptiveness to feedback, and a strong commitment to patient care.
