Position Summary Kellogg Community College is recruiting for a highly motivated individual with strong educational leadership skills to assume the role of nursing instructor. The instructor’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the innovative and cooperative design and delivery of current and relevant curriculum to a diverse community college student population. This instructor is also required to work collaboratively with faculty colleagues to ensure student success through a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement as required by standards of the College, accreditation, and the State Board of Nursing. While this position is for a nursing faculty role, it must be noted that there is a significant amount of collaborative committee work within the department and across divisions. This is a full\-time tenure\-track faculty position with a non\-traditional Spring\-Summer academic teaching schedule, starting January 2027\. Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek Michigan, a community of about 54,000 people. Physical Demands The job responsibilities are performed in an office area, classroom, clinical or laboratory area, and/or regional campus sites. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and climbing. Strength must be sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring patients of varied body weights and abilities and to lift or move material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward, potentially in excess of 50 pounds. Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations. Minimum Qualifications Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college/university – at the time of application, attach unofficial transcripts showing completed coursework and degree conferred Current unencumbered RN licensure in the State of Michigan Minimum of two (2\) years clinical work experience as a registered nurse Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Preferred but not Required Advanced academic preparation in Nursing Education Minimum of two (2\) years teaching experience in a community college nursing program Experience working with a diverse population Experience with nursing high\-fidelity simulation Demonstrated collaborative problem\-solving Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) Proposed Salary According to the current Kellogg Faculty Association (KFA) contract agreement, commensurate with education and experience. Instruct and evaluate students in theoretical and clinical applications of nursing in both first and second\-year level courses. Engage with Healthcare Business and Industry, and with faculty colleagues to ensure the current and relevant curriculum is maintained to prepare graduates for the contemporary nursing workforce. Develop curriculum in the nursing program of study. Determine intended course outcomes and develop learning activities, course materials, and assessments necessary to achieve course outcomes in the classroom, lab/simulation, clinical, and/or online learning environments. Collaborate with the program administrators, faculty, and clinical site administrators/ educators to ensure correlation between clinical education and didactic education that support student learning outcomes. Supervise students in the clinical setting. Utilize technology to advance student learning, including but not limited to high\-fidelity medical simulation, and other existing/emerging technologies that serve to bridge theory with practice. Reach out and advise, mentor, and remediate students in need. Submit student grades and class records according to the determined policies and deadlines. Provide orientation and ongoing support to Adjunct Instructors (Clinical Nursing Assistants) through mentoring, answering questions, and collaborating on how to address student learning needs. Actively participate to maintain ongoing program accreditation and State Board approval. Serve in the role of program expert for students and others seeking information about the Nursing Program. Participate in activities that promote the profession and encourage enrollment and completion. Engage in collaborative partnerships with local businesses and industries, K\-12 school systems, and other post\-secondary educational institutions in efforts to enhance enrollment and provide rich and efficient learning experiences for students. Participate in the Nursing Department’s continuous quality improvement processes to ensure program effectiveness. Develop strategies intended to address student success, cost efficiency, and Perkins Core Performance Indicators. Work with the Nursing Education Department’s Director and faculty colleagues to identify equipment, program improvements, and professional development strategies that qualify for Perkins funding. Collaborate with Nursing Department Director, faculty colleagues, and College Administration in strategic and budgetary program planning to ensure necessary resources. Essential Function KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Description Demonstrate ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the program including multiple modalities, evenings, weekends, and other KCC sites. Collaborate with Nursing Department Director and faculty colleagues to establish program/course schedule to best meet student needs. Maintain regular campus presences through office hours and cooperative attendance and participation in department and institutional meetings and committees. Assume responsibility for an active and collaborative role in committee work or projects. Uphold deadlines and produce expected deliverables. Maintain current knowledge of trends in the professional discipline and of best practices in educational methodology through continuing professional development. Participate in institutional training in online teaching/learning and in instructional design/delivery. Maintain professional credentials as required by the State of Michigan and program accreditation standards for continued qualification as nursing education faculty. Seek out and engage in college activities and initiatives that help to advance the College mission. Provide service to the College through leadership and participation on various college committees and workgroups. Attend college events. Possess and promote knowledge and understanding of college organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures. Exercise sound decision\-making skills and possess good organizational skills. Work independently and communicate effectively. Demonstrate basic knowledge of technologies, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and social media. Exhibit sensitivity to students, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds and learning styles; employ active learning strategies.
