Human Resources Assistant \- Remote
Summary
The Human Resources Assistant serves as a vital link to the HR department, providing detailed and coordinated support in a compliance\-driven environment. This role supports healthcare professionals working on federal contracts and ensures HR practices align with company policies as well as government contracting requirements, including FAR, DFARS, and applicable labor laws.
This position assists with onboarding and offboarding processes, compliance activities, corporate recruiting, and daily HR administrative functions.
This is a remote position requiring a home\-based office. The ideal candidate must be extremely detailed with administrative task support, can quickly pivot on projects as time sensitive matters arise, and have a proactive approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer day\-to\-day HR operations for personnel supporting VA, DoD, and other government contracts
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, including EEO, FMLA, ADA, and the Service Contract Act (SCA)
- Support corporate recruiting efforts, onboarding, and offboarding processes
- Manage team Outlook for urgent matters, HRIS systems, and reporting functions
- Maintain accurate employee records in compliance with company policies and federal contract requirements
- Support implementation and maintenance of HR policies and procedures
- Partner with Benefits and Leave Specialist for: Open enrollment, ACA compliance, employee benefits administration, and invoicing
- Monitor and report on employee training requirements (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission, contract\-specific training)
- Maintain compliant I\-9 documentation
- Ensure HRIS data accuracy through audits and data entry best practices
- Collaborate effectively across departments while working independently
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Minimum of 3 years of HR experience in an HR Assistant or similar role
- Experience supporting federal contracts (VA, DoD, or similar agencies) preferred
- Familiarity with SCA, FAR, DFARS, and compliance audits preferred
- Experience with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred)
- Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a strong sense of urgency
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Work Location: Remote (home office required)
- Schedule: Full\-time, Monday–Friday 8am – 5pm
