Snow’s Home \& Garden is a 137\-year old department store located in Orleans, MA and serving Cape Cod.

We are seeking a polite, empathetic, and professional Customer Service Associate to act as a liaison between our store and our customers. Full\-time preferred. This is a year\-round in\-store position that assists customers in person and on the telephone, helping to ensure a positive shopping experience. It requires the ability to resolve issues accurately an efficiently. The role creates satisfied, repeat customers and referrals.

Primary Responsibilities:

Unlock and open the front door, and turn the “Open” sign, when the store opens.

Greet customers upon arrival in the store and on the telephone. Answer customers' questions about the store and its merchandise. Direct customers to merchandise or seek assistance in doing so. Provide ideas and product information to assist customers in determining appropriate merchandise to purchase. Handle any customer complaints.

Effectively manage inbound and outbound telephone calls. Make appropriate intercom announcements, as instructed.

Following the store return policy, inspect products for damage, process returns, provide return receipts or store credit, and place products on the return\-to\-inventory counter.

When cashiers are unavailable, itemize and total customer merchandise selection at checkout counter using cash register, and accept cash or charge card for purchases. Pack customer purchases in bags or cartons.

Price and ticket merchandise during slow periods of the day. Take initiative to monitor and learn product inventory, availability, and pricing on the company computer system. Provide assistance to colleagues, as requested. Submit ideas and customer feedback to supervisor regularly.

Assist in the showroom layout, restock merchandise, and help with showroom events, as directed. Maintain cleanliness, order, standards, and appearance of work area.

Participate in store meetings and proactively contribute ideas to the business

Lock the front door and turn the “Closed” sign, when the store closes.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Proven retail customer service experience (at least 3 years)

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a patient and empathetic tone

· Calm, professional, and solution\-oriented under pressure

· Maintain a working knowledge of store products and their location, services, and policies

· Operate phone system, intercom, computer system, cash register, and calculator

· Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time, and process paperwork

· Can assess situations and appropriately exchange complete and accurate information with customers, supervisors, and colleagues

· Able to lift and transport 40\-lb. products

· Can stand vertically, stoop or kneel, move about the store, push carts, sit at computer and navigate a keyboard

· Able to inspect, view, and identify, and manipulate products

· Tag merchandise and position it on shelves

· Handle cleaning tools and supplies

· Project the appropriate store image by ensuring professional appearance, behavior, and compliance with all business codes of conduct, safety requirements, human resource policies, project requirements, company values, and company directives

· Willing to dependably work full\-time, Monday – Friday, including occasional overtime and flexibility with schedule

Other Responsibilities

Perform such other duties, activities or projects as determined reasonable and desirable to achieve store goals.

  • Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve our diverse customer base effectively
  • Strong communication skills in English; additional language skills are a plus
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to perform data entry accurately with good typing speed and attention to detail
  • Experience in outbound calling or client services is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of sales techniques, analysis skills, and customer support best practices will help you excel in this role
