Organization Summary
Early College Charter School of Philadelphia (ECPHL) is a new educational model for the city’s public school students and their families. An open\-enrollment, early college program for middle and high school students, ECPHL works in tandem with college, credentialing and industry partners to offer students from across the city the opportunity to earn their high school diploma plus college credits up to an associate’s degree and/or career certifications – all at no cost to families. The ECPHL model is the first of its kind in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. It was designed according to evidence\-based research that shows students who attend early college model schools have significantly higher rates of high school graduation, college enrollment, college degree attainment, and higher lifetime earning potential. Located in Center City near the Broad Street corridor, ECPHL will welcome its first students in Fall 2026 for its founding 6th and 9th grade classes. Job Summary
The Middle/High School Teacher \- World Languages will be responsible for creating and administering a classroom program that is conducive to student learning and development. The Teacher uses a variety of classroom techniques for learning and implements interdisciplinary activities, field trips, outdoor experiences, educational technologies, and collaborative work with other teachers in grade bands. The ideal Teacher is flexible and committed to a continuous process for professional growth. Teachers report to the Assistant Principal of Academics.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Teacher’s responsibilities include:
- Promote high expectations, demonstrate a caring attitude, and establish an environment that supports social, emotional, and academic development in students.
- Develop standards\-based, data\-driven annual, unit, and lesson plans.
- Plan and implement rigorous, engaging, high\-impact lessons that accelerate student growth and differentiate for the needs of individual students.
- Develop assessments linked to course standards, analyze student performance, and design appropriate instructional responses to assessment results.
- Reflect on teaching practices through regular instructional coaching meetings.
- Communicate regularly with parents/families to share academic progress and develop a supportive home\-school relationship.
- Participate in other roles related to being a part of the school community.
- Supervise students within the classroom and other assigned areas.
- Participate actively in the professional community through collaboration with colleagues in a range of contexts.
- Use positive and productive techniques for improving student behavior.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrates self\-awareness and has a 360° view of what’s going on within the school and surrounding community.
- Knowledge of public education and charter schools.
- Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs designed for students
- Competency in designing, implementing, and assessing curricula
- Proficiency in using technology in the classroom to enhance student learning (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, databases, online textbooks, and educational websites).
- The ability to communicate effectively with parents.
- Demonstrated professionalism and responsibility, and a strong work ethic.
- A positive, high\-energy attitude, and a drive for personal excellence.
- Flexible attitude, ability to work with urgency.
- Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
- Willingness and desire to participate in unexpected projects.
- Ability to work as a member of the instructional team.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant coursework.
- PA teacher certification preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching Middle/High School World Languages.
- Prior successful teaching experience.
- Traveling to offsite meetings – valid driver’s license and/or access to transportation when necessary;
- Functioning in office space — reaching file cabinets, filing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, making phone calls;
- Functioning in a school building – walking in halls, up and down stairs, in the schoolyard, visiting classrooms;
- Must be able to stand and sit for up to two hours, moving around a classroom.
