The Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) at Indiana University Bloomington is dedicated to attracting, enrolling, and supporting a community of talented students from Indiana, across the nation, and around the world. OEM integrates strategic planning, data\-informed decision\-making, and collaborative partnerships across campus to create a seamless student experience, from first contact through graduation. The Office of Enrollment Marketing and Communications (EMC) in the Office of Enrollment Management serves all 10 units. A combination of creative mojo and data analysis allows us to implement innovative marketing communications to serve prospective and current students and their families, driving enrollment and retention to and for IU Bloomington.

Job Summary

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Directs the operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to ensure communications align with established methodologies and standards.
  • Hires, trains, and evaluates a team of Communications Generalists and Assistants, setting clear goals and determining staffing needs.
  • Collaborates with the Director of EMC to develop and execute strategic communication and marketing plans that support IU Bloomington¿s enrollment and retention goals.
  • Serves as a primary writer for leadership, producing newsletters, speeches, and executive remarks for the Office of Enrollment Management.
  • Reviews all departmental projects and communications to ensure strict adherence to IU brand standards, grammar, and the OEM style guide.
  • Manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align communication projects with institutional objectives.
  • Partners with the technical team to ensure all creative assets and digital content meet necessary technical protocols and standards.
  • Research emerging technologies and industry trends to make operational recommendation and implement workflow efficiencies.
  • Oversees content updates and messaging across various vended platforms, including college search profiles and presentations.
  • General Responsibilities

  • Directs operations for the marketing and communications function by providing oversight and direction within a department, large multi\-faceted department, or multiple departments.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, coaches, assigns work, sets goals and objectives, determines staffing needs, and directs the work of a team of Communications Generalists and/or Communications Assistants.
  • Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders; determines communications needs, projects, and programs to align with objectives and goals and manages processes such as the development of communications timelines related to such initiatives.
  • Reviews drafts of communications and projects and coaches on grammar, tone, branding guidelines, formatting, and other elements that may affect the perception of messaging or reputation of the department.
  • Responds to escalated and complex inquiries and requests and explains policies, procedures, and context of communications.
  • Assists in budget planning and administration for communications initiatives, including expenditures, revenue projections, and program costs.
  • Monitors industry trends and best practices, makes process and operational and strategic recommendations to manager, and assists in implementing recommendations to optimize operations and progress toward objectives.
  • May provide guidance to lower\-level Communications Leaders.

    EDUCATION

    Required

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or related field.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE

    Required

  • 4 years in relevant field.
  • 1 years of management experience in relevant field.
  • Preferred

  • Some experience in higher education marketing.

    This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

    Work Location

    Bloomington, Indiana

    This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (mix between 1 remote workday and 4 in\-person workday), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

    Advertised Salary

    $88,000 annually
