Job Description
Northwest Healthcare, the largest hospital system in Southern Arizona, is seeking a BE/BC Family Medicine physician with a strong interest, experience, or additional training in pediatrics to join our ACGME\-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program in beautiful Tucson, Arizona. This is a unique opportunity to combine your passion for teaching family medicine residents with your pediatric expertise in an innovative, supportive environment.
As part of the core faculty team, you’ll play an instrumental role in shaping the next generation of family physicians while having the chance to work closely with pediatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The ideal candidate is a family physician who enjoys caring for patients across the lifespan and has a particular interest in pediatric care, pediatric curriculum development, and teaching residents how to care for children and families within the scope of family medicine.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

* Clinical Supervision of Residents:
+ Supervise residents in Outpatient Family Medicine with a specific focus on pediatric care.
+ Independent practice without residents, providing an opportunity to engage in your own clinical work while balancing educational responsibilities.
+ Dedicated administrative time to plan, engage, and manage educational activities for residents.
* Educational Responsibilities:
+ Teach and supervise family medicine residents in full\-spectrum outpatient family medicine, with added emphasis on pediatric and adolescent care.
+ Engage with residents in pediatric\-focused didactics and educational activities, including lectures, journal clubs, and M\&M (Morbidity \& Mortality) conferences.
+ Opportunity to participate in pediatric simulation training days and research days focused on broad spectrum family medicine and pediatric care.
* Scholarly Activity: Collaborate with residents on scholarly projects, including case reports, pediatric\-focused quality improvement (QI) initiatives, and publishable work, such as book chapters or articles in pediatric medicine.
* Committee Involvement: Join 1 or 2 committees with a focus on pediatric curriculum development, pediatric teaching methods, or residency program enhancement. Meetings occur 1 to 3 times a year, depending on your interest and availability.
* Residency Interviewing: Participate in residency program candidate interviews and selection processes, with special attention to prospective candidates with a pediatric background or interest.
* Social and Educational Engagement: Participate in residency social events and foster a supportive learning environment for both family medicine and pediatric care.
* Resident Education: Ensure residents are aware of their educational goals for both family medicine and pediatric rotations. Provide guidance on patient care, addressing pediatric\-specific needs in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
* Clinical Supervision:
+ Supervise residents in their pediatric patient care, offering hands\-on guidance, prompt learning opportunities, and providing actionable teaching points in pediatric medicine.
+ Review and provide feedback on residents’ documentation, patient care plans, and appropriate billing in pediatric cases when applicable.
* Feedback and Development: Provide both informal and formal feedback to residents on their performance during pediatric rotations, with a focus on enhancing their pediatric clinical skills. At the end of each rotation, provide formal feedback via online forms, and discuss it with residents in a constructive and timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Board\-certified or Board\-eligible in Family Medicine with a Strong interest, experience, or additional training in pediatrics, newborn care, adolescent medicine, or maternal\-child health preferred.
