Summary: The Network Architect is responsible for designing, planning, and guiding the long\-term strategy of the organization’s network infrastructure. This role ensures that all network systems are secure, scalable, reliable, and aligned with business objectives. The Network Architect serves as the technical authority for enterprise networking and collaborates closely with IT leadership, security teams, and engineering teams to deliver a resilient and high performing network environment.
Essential Functions:
- Design and define enterpriselevel network architectures across LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, cloud, and hybrid environments to support longterm business strategy and scalability.
- Serve as the technical authority for network strategy and architecture, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, topology maps, and architectural documentation that establish clear standards and governance.
- Lead capacity planning, performance forecasting, and highavailability design, including redundancy and failover strategies.
- Partner with cybersecurity and networking teams to implement firewall policies, IDS/IPS, Zero Trust principles, and secure remote access solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to network engineers during design, deployment, and configuration activities.
- Deliver Tier IV technical support for complex or highimpact network issues affecting enterprise operations.
- Collaborate with IT leadership, vendors, and stakeholders to evaluate technologies, influence architectural decisions, and drive network modernization initiatives.
- A bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field is commonly preferred for a Network Architect, but it is not essential to perform the job.
- Possession of strategic and project leadership experience, including translating business needs into technical network requirements.
- Guiding and mentoring other engineers without direct reporting relationships.
- Leading complex network initiatives, including driving decisions, building consensus, and communicating effectively across IT and business teams
- Deep expertise in enterprise networking technologies, including routing, switching, wireless, and core protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Strong understanding of network security architectures, including firewalls, network segmentation, IDS/IPS, secure remote access, and Zero Trust principles.
- Proficiency with cloud and hybrid network design, particularly Azure VNETs, ExpressRoute, and modern cloud connectivity patterns.
- Knowledge of high\-availability design, redundancy, failover strategies, and enterprise\-scale network resilience.
- Familiarity with industry standards, network governance practices, architectural documentation requirements, and best\-practice design frameworks.
- Skilled in influence\-based leadership, guiding and mentoring engineers without direct reporting authority.
- Strong vendor management skills for evaluating technologies, solutions, and service providers.

Compensation \& Benefits:
This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $125,000 to $149,000\.

Minimum Requirements
Required Qualifications:
* 5 \-10 years of experience in network engineering and core competencies would suffice in lieu of formal education.
This position requires experience in 4 key areas:
* Enterprise Network Engineering \- Experience with core routing, switching, wireless technology, and routing protocols (5 \- 10 years)
* Network Security Experience – Experience implementing and managing Firewalls, Network Segmentation, Secure Remote access, and intrusion detection/ prevention (2 \- 3 years)
* Cloud and Hybrid Network Experience – Experience with Azure Vnets, Express routes (2 \- 3 years)
* Network Design and Architecture Exposure – experience designing scalable, secure, and resilient network infrastructures (LAN/WAN/Data Center).
* Leading or executing high level network design, capacity planning, redundancy and failover design, network modernization, creating network diagrams and documentation (3 \- 4 years)
Preferred Education \& Experiences:
* Budgeting and Project Management – managing project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
* Practicing of influence\-based leadership

Work Environment:
This is an on\-site position based at the Trident Support Center office in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
In\-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.
