Role Description: Elk \+ Elk is seeking an entry\-level full\-time Legal Assistant for a hybrid role based in Greater Cleveland, Ohio, with flexibility for partial remote work. The Legal Assistant will carry out administrative services providing support to the legal team including, but not limited to, preparation of documents, requesting records and bills, act as liaison with third party providers to obtain client information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist paralegals with administrative duties including but not limited to filing, photocopying, faxing, and mailing as needed.

· Compose, type, and distribute correspondence, including e\-mail and faxes.

· Prepare documents from written and oral dictation; compose, draft and revise documents and forms as required.

· Transmit documents to clients and other agencies via appropriate method of service.

· Collect medical, employment and business records from third parties.

· Obtain balance, payment, and adjustment information and compose spreadsheet from information received.

· Follow up on requested information to ensure receipt.

· Adhere to accounting procedures for requesting checks and processing credit card payments.

· Prepare closed files.

· Assist with new client welcome packets.

· Calendar and monitor task specific deadlines.

· Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

· Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Prior legal experience preferred.

· Knowledgeable of medical terminology (helpful).

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong grammatical and spelling skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

· Computer savvy with accurate data entry skills.

· Ability to perform diversified clerical functions and follow basic accounting procedures.

· Strong organizational, problem\-solving, and analytical skills.

· Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

· Self\-reliant and able to manage priorities and workflow.

· Ability to effectively communicate with people of all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
