This position is scheduled to work 20 hours per week Friday through Sunday. Employee must be able to work varied hours Monday – Friday until initial training in completed. The work schedule will be coordinated in consultation between the hiring supervisor and the selected applicant.

The position supports the Fourth Judicial District for weekend arraignments and emergency probate, children’s, delinquency, and domestic violence cases. The successful candidate will initiate new cases and review legal filings for compliance with court rules and statutes. Duties include processing pleadings and distributing documents to appropriate parties, monitoring and managing case deadlines, and scheduling and calendaring future hearings and events. The position requires accurate entry and maintenance of case information in CourtView and routing case documents to the appropriate department, judicial officer, staff member, or OnBase queue. Additional responsibilities include processing copy and audio record requests, providing customer service both in person and remotely, and handling sensitive and urgent matters such as mental health commitments, guardianship and conservatorship cases, domestic violence filings, and emergency CINA (Child in Need of Aid) and delinquency cases.

In this role, the individual is responsible for opening court and announcing the judicial officer’s entry, as well as initiating phone calls, conference lines, and Zoom connections for remote participants. They are required to log proceedings accurately to document outcomes such as bail conditions, future court dates, minute orders, and findings, while also processing, routing, and saving log notes. The individual must monitor the audio recording throughout the hearing to ensure clear and complete records and promptly alert the judicial officer if the recording becomes unclear or is interrupted.

They are responsible for labeling audio recordings as public or confidential based on case type and proceedings and must correctly identify and follow all required procedures for sealed hearings. The role also includes preparing, distributing, and processing court documents generated during or after hearings. Proficiency in using OnBase and Judicial Tools for case management tasks is essential, as is the ability to update CourtView with new or modified case information. Additionally, the individual must schedule and result hearings and issue or quash warrants as directed by the judicial officer.

Benefits

This position participates in the Supplemental Benefits System (SBS), Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), accrues personal leave, and receives up to 12 paid holidays. This position offers optional coverage for health insurance benefits. The employee will be responsible for paying one\-half of the premium for the coverage elected. Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.

    OR

    Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two\-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.

    OR

    A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.

    Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the minimum qualifications listed above. If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. post\-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post\-secondary institution. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

    SELECTION PROCEDURE
