Role Summary
The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Enterprise Transformation – Software Development is responsible for leading the design, development, delivery, and ongoing support of enterprise software solutions that enable large‑scale transformation initiatives across the organization. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for enterprise application development, data engineering, and platform enablement efforts sponsored by the Enterprise Transformation Office.
The AVP oversees a standardized Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensures delivery excellence, and provides application support and issue resolution for solutions developed by the Enterprise Transformation team. This leader manages a high‑performing team of application developers and data engineers and serves as a key partner to operational, clinical, technology, and executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Software Development Leadership
- Lead software development for enterprise transformation initiatives, delivering scalable, secure, and high‑quality applications that support operational and clinical outcomes.
- Own technical execution across custom applications, data pipelines, analytics\-enablement tools, and platform integrations sponsored by ETO.
- Translate business and transformation requirements into technical roadmaps, architectures, and delivery plans.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce a standardized SDLC across enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Define and uphold best practices for requirements management, architecture, development, testing, security, deployment, and documentation.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise IT standards, cybersecurity, data governance, and compliance requirements.
- Provide oversight for production support of applications developed by the Enterprise Transformation team.
- Ensure timely issue triage, root\-cause analysis, resolution, and communication to stakeholders.
- Partner with IT operations and support teams to transition stable solutions into long\-term operational ownership where appropriate.
- Lead and develop a team of application developers, data engineers, and technical leads.
- Set clear expectations for quality, delivery, accountability, and professional growth.
- Recruit, retain, and mentor top technical talent aligned with enterprise transformation needs.
- Serve as a trusted technical partner to transformation leaders, operators, clinicians, and functional executives.
- Work closely with IT, analytics, architecture, and external vendors to ensure enterprise alignment and solution sustainability.
- Communicate progress, risks, tradeoffs, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non\-technical audiences
- Ensure enterprise initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and with measurable value.
- Implement metrics for delivery velocity, quality, stability, and adoption.
- Continuously improve development practices to increase throughput, reliability, and scalability.
- Ensure solutions support healthcare workflows and comply with relevant regulatory and privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
- Support integration with clinical systems, operational platforms, and enterprise data environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Healthcare industry experience required.
- Prior experience leading software development teams required.
- 8\+ years of progressive experience in software development, engineering leadership, or enterprise application delivery.
- + Proficiency in programming languages like Python, SQL, and/or Typescript for building applications.
- + Proven ability to translate broad business concepts into effective and scalable data solutions.
- + Experience in developing data models and performing data analysis.
- + Strong problem\-solving skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast\-paced environment, delivering impactful results while maintaining high\-quality standards.
- + Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non\-technical stakeholders.
- + Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross‑functional development initiatives in large, matrixed organizations.
- + Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, DevOps, or hybrid models).
- Master’s degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent).
- Experience developing enterprise platforms, analytics\-enabled applications, or data engineering solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, modern application architectures, and integration frameworks.
