Position Title: HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR

Reports To: Site Administrator

JOB DEFINITION:

All Activity Directors at the high school level are paid on the extra duty schedule for time involved in actives normally occurring after school hours. It is understood that many responsibilities inherent in student activities requires extra hours without additional compensation. The extra duty schedule has been developed to compensate a teacher for some of the extra time involved in after\-school work.

This position is directly responsible to the principal. The Activities Director will provide leadership for and control over the total student activities program at the high school.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate, guide and supervise all student government activities.
  • Conduct a student leadership class for training student leaders and performing student government business.
  • Arrange for technical details such as police, chaperones and custodial assistance at school events.
  • Assist with supervision of all high school functions.
  • Supervise and arrange for all assemblies, rallies and activities that take place during the school day.
  • Handle vendors and salesmen for student body supplies.
  • Maintain a calendar and advise staff and students of activities and events occurring within and around the school.
  • Provide policies and guidelines for the operation of school clubs and organizations.
  • Assist advisors and members in the technical aspects of their club organizations.
  • Supervise all home varsity athletic events for football and boys’ basketball.
  • Determine eligibility in accordance with District scholastic code.
  • Assist in supervision of the procedures for handling student funds and accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain the student body budget with the assistance of the school bookkeeper.
  • Plan or assist in planning all student government activity events such as contests and dances.
  • Plan and prepare for personnel to assist in conducting and managing for all student activity events such as assemblies, banquets, and class pictures.
  • Assist senior class in ordering and distributing caps, gowns and announcements for graduation.
  • Assist in the supervision and crowd control at major athletic events.
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as required by the job or directed by the immediate supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed primarily in an office or administrative setting. The position involves prolonged sitting, frequent computer and keyboard use, occasional standing or walking, and lifting items such as files or office supplies consistent with assigned duties.

The employee may be exposed to moderate noise levels and frequent interruptions while interacting with staff, students, families, and community members. Work follows assigned business hours and may include occasional deadlines requiring flexibility.

The employee may have periodic interaction with students and may be required to provide supervision support during school operations or activities, working in environments with moderate to high noise levels.

The role requires multitasking, organization, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
