  • About TASS and Telluride Association: The Telluride Association Summer Seminar (TASS) offers free summer courses designed to help academically curious high school students sharpen their critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. Courses also aim to expose students to ideas and content that are not otherwise available in high school.

    TASS’s goal is to foster an intellectual community motivated by curiosity and a love of learning, rather than external rewards. Participants receive no grades or college credit; instead, we emphasize deep inquiry and collaborative exploration.

    As in all Telluride Association programs, TASS students’ tuition, housing, and meals are fully covered. We prioritize the admission of first\-generation and low\-income students from diverse backgrounds. More information can be found at tass.tellurideassociation.org.

    About the Program Assistant Role: The Summer Seminar Program Assistant provides primarily administrative, logistical, and errand\-based support for the TASS site. This role supports the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, and Resident Advisors by handling operational tasks that keep the program running smoothly.

    Key Relationships: Program Assistants are supervised by the Camp Director and work in close coordination with Resident Advisors, health staff, Faculty, Teaching Assistants, and Telluride Association administrative staff

  • Compensation: $28\.86/hour
  • Location: College Park, MD
  • Dates: May 25, 2026 \- August 2, 2026
  • Work Schedule:
  • + From May 25 \- June 14, 2026: Up to 40 hours of training (remote)

    + From June 15 \- August 2, 2026: 12\-40 hours per week across up to 6 days per week (on site). Schedule determined with supervisor based on availability and program needs. May include evening and weekend hours.

    ### Required Qualifications

    Experience working with Black students and/or populations (required for TASS\-CBS; preferred for TASS\-AOS*). Experience working with students of color, working class students, LGBTQIA\+ students, and/or other students of marginalized backgrounds and diverse educational preparation.

  • Awareness of and ability to reflect productively on power and privilege.
  • Excellent communication skills: demonstrates skillful verbal and written communication for diverse audiences; maintains composure in high\-stress situations; demonstrates emotional intelligence, listening skills, and compassion.
  • Excellent judgment: makes timely decisions; exhibits sound judgment; ensures compliance and safety standards are met; explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in decision\-making process; demonstrates integrity.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and flexibility.
  • Proficiency in Google Drive, Zoom, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which include evenings and/or weekends.
  • All Telluride residential summer seminar employees are required to have and provide proof of an FDA\-or WHO\-authorized or approved COVID\-19 primary immunization and other required immunizations or have obtained an approved disability/medical or religious exemption.
  • Summer program staff are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age as they are supervising minors.
  • ### Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid drivers license with excellent driving record.
  • Experience with Telluride Association programs.
  • Experience with anti\-racism work and practice and/or Restorative Justice, preferably within the context of an educational setting.
  • Interest in and commitment to the Association’s mission; an eagerness to practice democratic skills (facilitation and deliberation) and values.
  • First\-aid training.
  • Responsibilities

  • ----------------
  • ### Complete Training and Carry Out Policies \- 10%

  • Complete mandatory online trainings (up to 40 hours total), including orientation; Restorative Justice–informed expectations appropriate to the role; mandated reporting; health and safety; non\-harassment; program administration; and other required topics.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to all Telluride Association policies and procedures.
  • Promptly contact a supervisor with questions or concerns related to policies, safety, or responsibilities.
  • ### Program Preparation and Wrap\-Up \- 20%

  • Participate in site orientation and onboarding meetings with the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director.
  • Assist with setting up the program site prior to student arrival, including room setup, materials preparation, furniture arrangement, equipment distribution, and space readiness.
  • Assist with winding down the program site after student departure, including cleaning coordination, furniture reset, book and equipment returns, and other closing tasks through the end of the program period.
  • Provide logistical feedback and observations for inclusion in the end\-of\-program report.
  • Work closely with the Camp Director and health staff to ensure safety, manage risk, and respond to emergency situations.
  • ### Program Administration and Operational Support \- 60%

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for daily site operations, including scheduling, task tracking, and coordination.
  • Run on\- and off\-campus errands (supplies, printing, deliveries, returns).
  • Support room setup, A/V, materials preparation, and space resets.
  • Assist with scheduling, calendar coordination, task tracking, and follow\-through as directed by the Camp Director.
  • Support budget tracking and receipt collection; submit documentation to designated staff as required.
  • Assist with room setup, materials preparation, A/V setup, space resets, and general site readiness.
  • Support transportation logistics, including preparing materials for field trips and assisting with check\-in and check\-out processes.
  • Assist with technology setup and support, including laptops, printers, and other program equipment.
  • As requested, attend weekly all\-staff meetings led by the Camp Director. Share timely information about program needs with the Camp Director, and other site staff.
  • ### Student Support – 10%

  • Support smooth student transitions, materials distribution, and program logistics in coordination with supervising staff.
  • Serve as a consistent, accessible adult presence and communicate observations about student well\-being to appropriate staff.
  • Assist with student medication self\-administration as directed by health staff.
  • Promptly refer behavioral, health, or emotional concerns to supervising staff.
  • ### Other Responsibilities

  • Enact Telluride Association’s commitment to anti\-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion in all activities and duties.
  • Support Telluride Association to maintain a safe working environment. Act proactively to prevent accidents and injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
  • Abide by the policies and guidelines of the Telluride Association and all local, state, and federal laws. Failure to do so may result in suspension or termination of employment. Relevant Telluride policies include:
  • Safety Plan and Policy on Working with Minors: Ensure the safety and well\-being of minor program participants. See policy for specifics.
  • Confidentiality: All TASS students’ application materials, evaluations, and similar documents must be kept confidential. Faculty should not disclose any of this information without explicit authorization from the TASS Committee.

  • Essential physical requirements: Position requires use of computer, phone, and office equipment. Position requires travel and evening/weekend work. Position requires frequent accompaniment of students, including accompanying students on walking trips around campus and during field trips.
