Development \& Grants Associate

Position Type: Part\-Time (30 hours/week), Non\-Exempt

Schedule: Hybrid position. The first two weeks of training and onboarding are expected to be fully in person. After that, the position will follow a hybrid schedule of 30 hours per week. The initial hybrid schedule is expected to be 3 days in person and 2 days remote. After successful onboarding and demonstrated performance, this may transition to 2 days in person and 3 days remote, based on organizational needs.

Compensation: $25\-$28/hour, depending on experience

Housed in the beautifully restored former St. Mary Magdalene Church, our unique setting features a state\-of\-the\-art ropes course, after\-school programs, summer camps, team\-building workshops, and enrichment activities built around our five pillars: Physical Health, Nutrition, Academics, STEAM, and Mental Health. Position Summary

Dragon's Den is seeking a highly organized, strong writer to serve as Development \& Grants Associate in a part\-time capacity (30 hours per week). This position is designed to help take grant writing, grant tracking, reporting, and development\-related administrative responsibilities off the Executive Director's plate while strengthening the organization's overall fundraising and reporting capacity.

The ideal candidate is detail\-oriented, deadline\-driven, proactive, and able to turn program information, outcomes, and stories into strong written materials for funders and supporters. This person must be comfortable following up with staff, keeping multiple deadlines organized, and making sure important development and grant\-related tasks do not fall through the cracks. The right candidate will also have the ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively within a team, bringing together information from leadership, program staff, finance staff, and external partners in a clear and organized way.

Key Responsibilities:

1\-Grant Research, Writing, and Reporting

  • Research grant opportunities that align with Dragon’s Den’s mission, programs, and strategic priorities
  • Maintain a grant calendar with deadlines for proposals, reports, renewals, and follow\-up tasks
  • Draft letters of inquiry, grant proposals, narrative reports, and supporting materials
  • Track awarded grants and maintain clear internal systems for deadlines, requirements, and follow\-up
  • Create simple trackers for each grant, including required outcomes, reporting deadlines, and documentation needed
  • Work with program and leadership staff to gather attendance data, stories, photos, budgets, and other materials needed for grant submissions and reports
  • Help ensure all grant reports are completed accurately and submitted on time
  • 2\- Development Support

  • Assist the Executive Director with donor communications, sponsorship requests, thank\-you letters, and stewardship materials
  • Support fundraising efforts by drafting appeals, impact summaries, sponsorship language, and other development\-related communications
  • Help maintain organized records of proposals, reports, donor contacts, funder communications, and submissions
  • Assist with preparation of fundraising materials, presentations, and follow\-up for donors, foundations, and community partners
  • 3\- Storytelling and Communications Support

  • Gather stories, testimonials, quotes, and examples of program impact
  • Draft impact stories and written updates for use in grants, donor outreach, newsletters, presentations, and other communications
  • Help translate the daily work of Dragon’s Den into compelling written materials that reflect the organization’s mission and results
  • Support the Executive Director in strengthening Dragon’s Den’s written voice across development materials
  • 4\- Cross\-Department Coordination

  • Communicate clearly with program and operations staff about what information is needed for grants, reports, and development projects
  • Follow up consistently to ensure needed materials are collected in a timely way
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, contractor grant writer, Executive Assistant, Program Manager, CFO, Accountant, and other team members to ensure written narratives, budgets, program plans, and supporting details align
  • Help create and maintain systems so important information is documented and shared clearly
  • 5\- Administrative and Organizational Support

  • Organize and maintain accurate files related to grants, reports, donor communications, and development work
  • Prepare development\-related materials for meetings, board communication, and strategic discussions as needed
  • Support special projects related to fundraising, grants, communications, and organizational growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director to support Dragon’s Den’s sustainability and growth
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Education, Social Work, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Experience with grant writing, grant reporting, fundraising support, nonprofit development, project coordination, team collaboration, or strong professional writing preferred
  • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines at once
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, follow through consistently, and coordinate effectively with a collaborative team
  • Comfortable gathering information from multiple people and turning it into clear, compelling written materials
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort communicating with staff, funders, donors, community partners, and external contractors
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace; experience with spreadsheets, Canva, donor databases, or project tracking tools is a plus

  • Clearances Required

    If this role includes regular on\-site presence during youth programming hours, PA Criminal History Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Clearance, and Mandated Reporter Training must be completed before starting.
