The Opportunity:
About the Role
The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Revenue Cycle is a senior operational leader responsible for owning day‑to‑day client revenue cycle operations while driving performance, financial outcomes, and operational excellence. This role partners closely with client leadership and Ensemble teams to deliver consistent results, maximize cash flow, and ensure service level commitments are met.
Guided by Ensemble’s core principles of Customer Obsession, Embracing New Ideas, and Striving for Excellence, the AVP leads through influence, accountability, and collaboration to achieve client and enterprise goals.
Key Responsibilities
Client Delivery \& Operational Leadership
- Own end‑to‑end revenue cycle performance for assigned client(s), ensuring delivery against financial, operational, and service level expectations
- Define and execute strategic direction, priorities, and quality improvement initiatives for onsite revenue cycle operations
- Develop and maintain integrated operational plans with clearly defined objectives, outcomes, and implementation timelines
- Serve as a senior client‑facing leader, presenting performance results, KPIs, and improvement strategies
- Drive improvement across all revenue cycle functions, including Patient Access, AR, Denials, HIM, Case Management, and Business Office
- Monitor cash flow, bad debt, AR aging, denial trends, and self‑pay performance to ensure achievement of client goals
- Ensure compliance with Ensemble Service Level Agreements (SLAs), internal standards, and regulatory requirements
- Proactively identify risks, issues, and performance gaps and lead corrective action planning
- Provide direct leadership and performance oversight for onsite Revenue Cycle Directors and leadership teams
- Conduct performance evaluations, skill development planning, and accountability management aligned to KPIs
- Lead succession planning, coverage strategies, and onboarding of new leadership to minimize operational disruption
- Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Partner with client executives, Ensemble leadership, and cross‑functional teams to align priorities and drive results
- Lead and participate in program‑level meetings, client reviews, and enterprise initiatives
- Influence change across revenue cycle functions through collaboration and data‑driven decision making
- Participate in business development and sales activities related to revenue cycle growth opportunities
- Provide weekly and monthly performance reporting to client and Ensemble leadership
- Communicate emerging risks, escalations, and material operational issues with transparency and urgency
- Share best practices, lessons learned, and performance insights across Ensemble and client teams
- Extensive experience leading healthcare revenue cycle operations in complex, client‑facing environments
- Demonstrated success driving financial performance, operational improvement, and SLA adherence
- Proven ability to lead and influence multi‑level teams in onsite and matrixed environments
- Strong strategic, analytical, and problem‑solving capabilities
- Executive‑level communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly
- Prior experience leading onsite revenue cycle operations for hospital or health system clients
- Experience partnering directly with client executives and Boards
- Healthcare revenue cycle certifications (e.g., CRCR or equivalent)
