SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant supports monthly close and financial reporting, focusing on physician compensation modeling, financial analysis, and operational reporting. This position collaborates with the Accounting, Payroll, and Operations departments to ensure the integrity and promptness of financial data management.
This role is essential during busy close periods, as it demands efficient management of multiple complex processes under tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to manage multiple priorities under recurring deadlines (especially during close periods), apply strong analytical thinking and structured problem\-solving to complex issues, maintain high attention to detail while understanding downstream impacts and the bigger picture, work independently by taking ownership of processes and driving items to completion, and communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, to explain financial concepts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to:
Physician Compensation
- Build and maintain monthly physician compensation models based on productivity and contractual terms.
- Validate compensation calculations and ensure accuracy prior to payroll processing.
- Partner with Payroll to ensure alignment between compensation models and payroll system outputs.
- Maintain documentation of compensation methodologies and assumptions.
- Prepare and update financial statements by profit center following payroll posting.
- Support the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data used in internal reporting.
- Prepare and maintain monthly HIG reconciliations.
- Analyze trends and identify variances across locations and providers.
- Ensure supporting documentation is complete and audit ready.
- Prepare monthly financial summaries and supporting schedules.
- Populate and update executive\-level reporting packages, including slide decks and summaries.
- Perform variance analysis and provide clear explanations of financial results.
- Oversee the development and upkeep of the financial forecasting and budgeting model.
- Compiles all information for the annual audit and preparation of tax returns with outside CPA firm.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in financial processes and reporting.
- Assist in building scalable processes as the organization continues to grow.
- Cross train in key areas to support team redundancy and risk mitigation.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Experience: 5\+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month\-end close, internal financial reporting, and variance analysis under tight deadlines. Preferred experience with complex compensation models (physician/incentive compensation) in a healthcare setting, with demonstrated cross\-functional partnership (Accounting, Payroll, and Operations departments) and strong analytical problem\-solving skills. A combination of education and pertinent work experience may be considered.
Technical Skills: Skilled in advanced Excel functions, such as creating complex formulas, conducting data analysis, and managing large datasets. Familiarity with NetSuite and Adaptive Insights is a plus.
Communication Skills: Demonstrates outstanding proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize and manage workload independently while meeting recurring deadlines. Applies sound judgment to analyze financial information, identify trends/variances, and troubleshoot discrepancies, escalating issues and recommending solutions as appropriate.

Hybrid work environment, requiring 2 to 3 days in the office. During this job, employees often spend long stretches sitting, using their hands to manage computers, phones, and other office devices. Visual acuity sufficient for reading financial reports and working on a computer is required.
