The Town of Erie’s Parks Division is seeking a motivated and proactive individual to join our Parks and Open Space team as our Parks Maintenance Technician I or II!
Reporting to the Parks Maintenance Supervisor, you will perform a variety of skilled and semi\-skilled duties associated with the operation and maintenance of Town parks, athletic facilities, irrigation systems, landscaped areas, and buildings/grounds. This includes turf and athletic field, playground, trails, hardscape, and irrigation maintenance and may include horticulture assignments and general maintenance tasks.

- Perform cultural practices to maintain healthy turf, encompassing tasks such as mowing, trimming, fertilizing, aerating, seeding, topdressing, and weed control.
- Execute comprehensive maintenance tasks for irrigation systems, encompassing preventive maintenance, controller programming, thorough coverage checks, head replacements, break repairs, system startups, and blowouts.
- Apply herbicides and pesticides in accordance with prescribed guidelines; maintain usage records
- Install and maintains concrete work, signage, fences, courts, benches, grills, tables, and other park amenities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of playgrounds, splash pads, and park amenities to ensure safety and compliance with park standards.
- Perform snow removal activities by hand, small equipment, and/or heavy equipment as assigned
- Remove vandalism and graffiti
- Collect trash
- May assist in arboricultural, horticultural, and open space operations
- Operate pickup trucks, trailers, tractors, riding and walk behind mowers, edgers, string trimmers, backpack blowers and various hand tools and other power maintenance equipment
- Maintain a safe working environment to include safety checks of equipment and minor maintenance activities on vehicles and equipment; follow all safety protocols for working in traffic and congested areas, working in ditches and confined spaces and all other work environments
- Perform data entry and prepare necessary records and reports including maintenance logs, work orders, safety inspections and ADA compliance records
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner

- Supervise part\-time employees, volunteers, and youth corps in the performance of maintenance tasks
- Provide instructions to volunteers as needed
- Create and promote positive working relationships and an inclusive environment amongst staff, volunteers and participants. Facilitate conflict resolution strategies as needed
- Serve as a professional ambassador of the Town by maintaining a professional image, a team\-based collaborative approach and high ethical standards
- Interpret, communicate and enforce all Department, Town, County, State and Federal policies and procedures within areas of program responsibility
- Complete all required safety trainings in a timely manner
- Develop and accomplish goals and objectives to support the Department and Town mission
- May assist with related special events to include ordering materials and setting up equipment
- Assist in the cleaning and organization of shop area
- Respond to emergency situations, administer first aid, CPR and other medical attention as needed
- Communicate the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values to staff, volunteers and key stakeholders
- Serve on Department or Town committees
- Perform related work as required and assigned
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to obtain CPR, AED and First Aid within three months of hire

- Pesticide Applicators License.
- Minimum of one industry recognized certification relevant to assigned work group such as: Sports Field Managers Association (SFMA), National Parks and Recreation Association (NRPA), Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC), or similar organization
