The Special Education (SPED) and Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL) departments are seeking an energetic and dedicated administrative assistant to support our vibrant programs. This position will primarily support the SPED department while also providing administrative assistance to TESOL.
Position Summary:
Serving a diverse campus community, the Administrative Assistant I will serve as the primary contact for student questions, responding to inquiries via phone, in person and email; administrative matters regarding academic affairs, accreditation, faculty concerns, and budget/facility/scheduling issues. This position also supervises student workers who assist in the day to day management of the office.
This is a full\-time, 12\-month, AFSCME unit position and is subject to the terms of that unit agreement.
Tour of Duty: 8:45 a.m. \- 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday
(Saturdays and Sundays as days off)
This position is located in Bridgewater, MA and may be eligible for a hybrid schedule in accordance with BSU remote work policy.

Essential Duties:

- Supervise and train student employees.
- Update and maintain the Special Education BridgeNet site; develop and maintain social media platforms and informational BlackBoard sites; develop and maintain promotional materials in coordination with other departments.
- Maintain inventory of office supplies, technology, and equipment; order assessment kits, protocols \& curricula materials; and facilitate access to desk copies of faculty texts.
- Attend and record minutes at department meetings.
- Maintain undergraduate and graduate student advising lists in coordination with the Department and Graduate chairpersons.
- Maintain event calendars for students, faculty and community.
- Schedule and coordinate conferences, meetings, and interviews by reserving necessary facilities and confirming participant availability.
- Maintain and submit faculty attendance records.
- Prepare and update course schedules using the yearlong scheduling process in coordination with the Department, Graduate Chair, and other departments.
- Oversee departmental budgets, prepare purchase orders, contracts, and budget transfers.
- Collect data and prepare ad hoc reports for the Department and the University.
- Assist with the organization, coordination, and implementation of departmental events, including student gatherings, faculty events, and partnerships with regional school districts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full\-time, or equivalent part\-time, experience in office management, office administration, business administration or business management, the major duties of which included one or more of the following functions: purchasing, personnel management, budgeting, accounting, records management, work simplification, grants management, contract administration or program management, (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below:
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Required Qualifications:
I. An Associates or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.
II. An Associates or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
