Staff Engineer
The Staff Engineer will be responsible for creating technical documents and technical drawings used in the power, oil/gas/chemical and process industries to support our customers as required by your assigned Manager/Supervisor. You will be required to explain complex, technical information in a clear and concise manner, working with team members to ensure the accuracy of the material. You will be responsible to work on a variety of technical drawings including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, chemical, hydraulic, and controls drawings. In addition, you will be responsible to work with vendor supplied drawings in support of training material development and instruction.
The Staff Engineer will be responsible for assisting our project management team in organizing our ongoing projects. This task involves monitoring project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, expenditures, and organizing and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely manner.
As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for completing assigned tasks from the project management team. Responsibilities included but are not limited to:
Technical Writing:
- Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit detailed training manuals, operating procedures, alarm response procedures, and maintenance procedures.
- Plan, develop, and edit supporting documentation such as On\-the\-Job Training Guides and Test Banks.
- As warranted, compile and produce Plant Specific O\&M Manuals, using vendor supplied information.
- Maintain a comprehensive library of your documentation within the specified company file storing system.
- Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style, depth, and content.
- Manage updates and revision of documents.
- Maintaining and monitoring project plans, project schedules, work hours, budgets and expenditures as required by project management team.
- Preparing necessary presentation materials for meetings.
- Ensuring project deadlines are met.
- Providing administrative support as needed.
- Undertaking project tasks as required.
- Developing project strategies.
- Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
- Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
- Chair and facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to all project team members.
- Developing simplified diagrams covering primary and secondary flow paths for various plant systems.
- Develop simplified electrical diagrams outlining the various electrical plant systems.
- Develop training material covers and spines for production for customer final training material.
- Work with the Project personnel to simplify relatively complex drawings.
- Combine multiple drawings into a single drawing.
- Organize a drawing library for all types of projects.
- Organize a project graphics library.
- Manage updates and revisions of drawings.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
- In lieu of a Bachelor Degree 1\-3 years of experience in related field or military experience.
- Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Visio, Teams, and Outlook.
- Knowledge file management, transcription, and other administrative procedures.
- Ability to work on tight deadlines.
- Travel may be required as needed to support project requirements. Comfort with travel as required is mandatory.
