Board and Management Services Administrative Assistant

Division: Board and Management Services

Reports To: Director of Board and Management Services

FLSA Status: Full\-Time \| Non\-exempt

Starting Compensation:$19\.44 \- $22\.87 per hour

The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) empowers over 700 school boards and nearly 3,500 elected and appointed members statewide through superior service, advocacy, and innovative training. OSBA’s Board and Management Services division provides tailored governance support, leadership training, and executive search services to help school boards and administrators build effective teams and achieve strategic goals.

Overview

As the Board and Management Services (BMS) Administrative Assistant, you will provide critical support services that help facilitate school board development and operations. In this role, you will engage directly with students during our annual Student Achievement Fair and serve as an OSBA ambassador to school district professionals at our Administrative Professionals Workshop \- making a visible impact across Ohio’s public education community.

What Will You Do?

  • Assist with the coordination of select events including Student Achievement Fair and on\-site execution during Capital Conference
  • Perform support services for policy updates (utilizing policy software console), drafting, editing and proofing as required
  • Assemble support materials for workshops, board and employee handbooks, and strategic plans
  • Perform general support services including word processing, copying, filing, proofreading and preparing correspondence
  • Assist in tracking and coordination of current policy services contracts
  • Serve on committee for planning and execution of Administrative Professionals Workshop
  • Prepare and monitor tracking form for search services, including following up with internet searches for BOE minutes
  • Receive telephone calls and take messages
  • Prepare, type and proofread communications and publications as assigned
  • Prepare invoices as required
  • Maintain records according to OSBA’s retention schedule
  • File all materials related to division activities, seminars and programs
  • Serve as back\-up support for policy software district user support
  • Participate in development of goals and implementation of OSBA strategic plan
  • Other related duties as required
  • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Note: Alternatives to the above qualification(s) as the chief executive officer may find appropriate and acceptable

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Current office procedures and methods, including telephone and electronic communication and recordkeeping
  • Operation of office equipment
  • Current business communication, including style and format of letters, memoranda, minutes and reports
  • Correct grammar, punctuation, spelling and formatting for clear and accurate written communication
  • Fluent communication in English, effective interpersonal communication
  • Proofreading, typing/keyboarding
  • Job\-related software and word processing, spreadsheets, database, e\-mail, Internet and optical character recognition software
  • Ability to problem\-solve, prioritize, and work independently
  • Work Environment
