THE OPPORTUNITY
This is the fully qualified journey\-level classification in the Airport Technician class series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the I\-level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently under less supervision than the I\-level, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
While this class contains some work elements found in maintenance classes, it is distinguished from them in that these duties relate specifically to aviation services and airport operations. This class is further distinguished from Airport Operations Supervisor in that the latter has day\-to\-day supervisory and administrative responsibility for aviation services and airport operations.
*The selected candidate will have the opportunity to: Perform maintenance and repair work on airport buildings, facilities, and grounds; perform building maintenance and construction work including carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and custodial work; coordinate construction and repair work with contractors; perform brush clearance and grounds keeping work.

*Airport Technician I*:
Equivalent to graduation from high school;
AND
Two (2\) years of experience in general building and facility maintenance work.
*Airport Technician II:*
In addition to above, one (1\) year of airport operations and maintenance experience at a level equivalent to the County's class of Airport Technician I.

This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full\-time, part\-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for at least three (3\) months. In accordance with Personnel Rules 1103\.1 and 1105\.1, an extra help or limited term employee may be transitioned into a regular employee if the department in which the employee works has a vacant allocated position for the same classification as held by the extra help or limited term employee and the appointing authority requests such transfer.
