Our client, a Medical Center facility under the aegis of a California Public Ivy university and one of largest health delivery systems in California, seeks an accomplished Accounting / Financial Analyst.

- Location: San Francisco, CA 94103
- Duration: 6\-month contract w/ possibility of extension or conversion to FTE role
- This is a Financial Analyst role with AP exposure, not a transactional AP position. The focus is on analysis, reporting, and process improvement, with strong preference for candidates who can grow into a long\-term finance role.
- Hybrid role: 3 days onsite, remainder remote.
- Additional onsite presence may be required during training and system implementation (Oracle go\-live).
- Immediate start; duration approximately 6–8 months (subject to business needs).

- We are seeking a highly analytical Accounting or Financial Analyst with experience supporting accounts payable functions within a complex, high\-volume environment.
- This role goes beyond transactional processing and requires strong analytical capability, financial acumen, and the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive process improvements.
- The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting or finance, experience working with large ERP systems (preferably Oracle), and the ability to collaborate cross\-functionally across finance, procurement, and operations teams.
- Support accounts payable operations within a high\-volume environment while focusing on analysis and process improvement.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for optimization.
- Perform reconciliations and support reporting activities across AP and broader finance functions.
- Create and maintain operational, daily, and ad\-hoc reports to support decision\-making.
- Research and resolve complex invoice and payment issues, including exceptions and discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with procure\-to\-pay policies, internal controls, and financial procedures.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (finance, procurement, operations) to improve workflows and processes.
- Provide insights and recommendations to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial performance.
- Support documentation, audit readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize ERP systems (Oracle preferred) to extract, analyze, and validate financial data.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- Strong foundation in accounting or financial analysis.
- Experience supporting accounts payable functions in a high\-volume environment.
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and contribute to process improvements.
- Experience with reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis (beyond basic invoice processing).
- Familiarity with large ERP systems (Oracle Financials Cloud / Oracle Fusion preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills, including working with large datasets.
- Strong critical thinking, problem\-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast\-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross\-functionally.
- Experience in hospital or university environments preferred.
- Stable work history demonstrating reliability and long\-term potential.
- Candidates whose experience is primarily transactional AP (invoice entry, 3\-way match, check runs).
- Titles such as Accounts Payable Specialist, AP Clerk, or AP Processor as primary background.
- Profiles focused only on high\-volume processing without analytical or accounting depth.
- Candidates with short\-term, contract\-heavy work history without stability.
- Junior\-level candidates or those with limited accounting/finance experience.
- Candidates without a bachelor’s degree.
- Profiles lacking exposure to broader financial processes (reconciliations, reporting, analysis, process improvement).
