Required

High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of additional education or work experience

A minimum of one academic year of experience in a research lab setting

Proficiency with computer software on PC or MAC (i.e. Google Workspace, Microsoft Office)

Previous experience with the Cognitive and Neurodevelopment Studies (CNS Lab) LENA research study processes

Experience with documentation of research protocols, knowledgeable with Clincard payment systems and data entry in LORIS and Box

Preferred

Certification in Human Subjects ethics training

Ability to maintain confidentiality while working with research data

Demonstrable interested in learning about pediatric research and its application to infant/children brain development

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver research reports and/or summaries to supervisors

Strong attention to detail, committed to completing tasks fully and with precision

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

College coursework in health sciences, developmental psychology, and/or related areas

Reliable transportation to MIDB and community sites in Twin Cities metro area

The Assistant Research Coordinator position will provide research study and laboratory support to other research team staff and supervisors. This position supports research conducted at the Cognition and Neurodevelopmental Studies (CNS) Lab at the University of Minnesota. .

This is an in\-person, casual position (up to 14 hours per week) with opportunity for remote work, and will continue upon availability of funds and performance.

This research assistant position will report directly to Bao Moua, Recruitment Manager in the CNS Lab.

Job Duties

Research Study Support (80%)

Assist with administrative research study start\-up tasks (i.e. template creation, prepare documents for study protocols, create recruitment flyers and tracking systems).

Assist with participant scheduling.

Help with research supply procurement and maintenance by inventorying stock and determining levels.

Provide support for the broader research team as needed.

Prepare, edit, and examine project reports and provide updates to supervisors or the larger research team.

Assist with data collection tasks as assigned.

Laboratory Support (20%)

Attend project team meetings.

Assist with providing informational outreach at community engagement events.

The CNS Lab is a multiple PI\-led research lab with grant funding portfolio across multiple departments (Pediatrics, ICD) housed at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain. Drs. Meghan Swanson and Jed Elison are co\-Directors, and Casey Burrows is the Director of Clinical Training. The lab focuses on understanding brain and behavioral development of infants and children. More specifically, our research examines the critical period of brain development in the first two years of life, which represents a time interval of dynamic development, plasticity, and potential vulnerability. Our research participants include typically developing children, autistic children, children with agenesis of the corpus callosum, infants with congenital cytomegalovirus infection, and children with Down syndrome.
