Support Washington Dental Service as a Financial Analysis and Accounting Intern and gain hands\-on experience in financial analysis, accounting operations, and financial systems. You’ll contribute to real projects such as supporting forecasting and month\-end close activities, assisting with reconciliations and reporting, and developing financial models while building key professional skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Skills you will gain during the internship:
- Practical experience supporting accounting operations, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience developing financial models and analyzing financial data to support finance and accounting decisions.
- Hands\-on exposure to enterprise finance and analytics tools including Acumatica, Snowflake, Velixo, and Tableau.
- Building meaningful connections with colleagues, mentors, and other professionals.
- Develop a working understanding of the in‑house Cost Allocation Model by analyzing allocation scenarios, validating model accuracy through clear checks and controls
- Create SharePoint documentation specifically for the Cost Allocation Model that explains methodology, drivers, and rate changes over time
- Assist with the forecasting process by creating reports, reviewing data, and spot\-checking financial information.
- Provide Cost Allocation Model recommendations on cost drivers and allocation inputs to improve transparency and usability.
- Support month\-end close activities, including reconciliations and other accounting tasks.
- Support preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Assess opportunities to incorporate fringe calculations within the ERP system to improve accuracy and automation as part of the model development.
- Create process documentation, change timelines, and self\-service resources in SharePoint to support finance operations.
- Currently pursuing an associates, bachelors, or master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Excel with experience using formulas, pivot tables, and sorting and filtering to analyze data.
- Experience using SQL, Snowflake, Tableau, or Power BI for data analysis, reporting, or visualization is a plus.
- Displays a high level of accountability by effectively managing tasks independently, meeting goals, and delivering high\-quality work while staying dedicated to team objectives.

This non\-exempt internship pays an hourly rate of $28\.00 and is full\-time (40 hours per week). Interns are expected to work during our standard business hours, which are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Interns are typically required to work onsite at our Seattle office every Tuesday, with the option for remote work on other days based on departmental needs.
