- Years 1 – 5: an employee will accrue 5\.85 hours of leave, per pay period.

THIS IS A PART\-TIME POSITION.
Under general supervision, performs a variety of responsible duties associated with the compilation of information, conducting of thorough interviews, development of comprehensive reports, presentation of recommendations and monitoring for compliance, individuals sentenced to probation, community corrections or pretrial services as an alternative to or in conjunction with incarceration. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, physical requirements, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. Tasks
Supervises and oversees a caseload of individuals placed on probation, community corrections or pretrial services as an alternative to or in conjunction with incarceration; conducts interviews, compiles information relating to elements of the charge, family and personal history, education, work experience; meets with defendant, family members, friends, victims and/or affected parties as necessary; appears and testifies in court.
Manages, oversees and supervises a caseload according to the area of assignment; maintains, updates and manages files, records and other paperwork associated with individual files and the entire caseload; develops, updates and maintains statistical and related records and reports; conducts interviews with the defendant on a scheduled and unscheduled basis; determines compliance with court\-ordered conditions of assignment; identifies and proposes modifications to set parameters as appropriate; prepares and submits court documents, forms and other items necessary for court records and information.
May work a varied schedule that may include evenings, week\-ends and/or holidays; attends, works with and participates in special projects, assignments and/or work locations; works with volunteers, community resources and others as needed to accomplish goals and objectives of area of assignment; compiles, maintains and provides status and statistical reports.
Transport prisoners of all security classifications to various corrections locations. Transport offenders via passenger vehicles and vans from various destinations such as courts, jails, workhouse and other specified locations. Prepare daily transportation and release rosters.
Obtains paperwork and instructions regarding possible placement of individuals into the Community Corrections Program, Hamilton County Probation or the Courts Community Service program, interviews clients/defendants; gathers data and information regarding possible placement into program; performs record checks to determine eligibility for acceptance into program; gathers, maintains, and updates records and files; attends Show Cause hearings; testifies in court regarding status; logs court orders and distributes for review and signature; performs drug screens on defendants when necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of applicable State of Tennessee statutes, rules, administrative orders, policies and procedures, applicable Federal rules and requirements.
Knowledge of Hamilton County Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of case management and supervision.
Knowledge of the basic principles of record keeping and records management.
Knowledge of legal terminology and court processes and procedures.
Knowledge of community resources and services.
Skill in reading, understanding, interpreting and applying Tennessee statues, rules, administrative orders, policies and procedures, applicable Federal rules and requirements and Hamilton County Policies and Procedures.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with court employees, and the public.
Skill in conducting interviews, gathering data and developing other reports.
Skill in communicating orally and producing documents and reports for public dissemination.
Skill in identifying, recommending and applying community resources and services to individual needs.
Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
Skill effectively communicating in both oral and written form.
Skill in data entry.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Management, Behavioral or Social Sciences or a closely related field. A valid driver’s license is required. OR
An Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Management, Behavioral or Social Sciences or a closely related field and two (2\) years of direct work experience in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Management, Behavioral or Social Sciences or a closely related field. A valid driver’s license is required. OR
The equivalent of a high school diploma and four (4\) years of direct work experience in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Management, Behavioral or Social Sciences or a closely related field. A valid driver’s license is required. SAFETY SENSITIVE: This position has been identified as “safety sensitive” under the definition of 49 CFR Part 40\-Department of Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Policy. This position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing for the following: 1\) post offer pre\-employment 2\) when there is reasonable cause 3\) after an on\-the\-job accident or contributing to an accident 4\) on a random basis 5\) prior to return to duty after suspension and/or 6\) as follow\-up. This is additional and also subject to the Rules and Regulations of The Employee Handbook. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred – Applicants who are proficient in both English and Spanish are preferred, but not required, for this position. A test will be required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work involves the potential for physical harm in dealing with defendants and potential exposure to infectious diseases. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Under the Felony Program, this position requires an NCIC background check which includes fingerprinting.
Within three (3\) months of date of hire, incumbents must be eligible to receive and must retain all certifications and training mandated by Tennessee statutes, rules, administrative orders and Hamilton County Policies and Procedures.
Incumbents must be able to obtain a driver’s license with “F” endorsement or the equivalent from state of residence within three (3\) months from date of hire.
Prior to operating a County\-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Pension – Legacy Plan (hired prior to 10/1/2015\), in which the employer contributes 14\.70%.
