Position Overview

  • IDOC is looking to hire an Office Assistant that will process, inspect, and deliver all incoming individual in custody and institutional mail. In addition, they will process money orders and distribute mail of individuals in custody who have been discharged, paroled, or transferred. If you are detail oriented and can multi\-task, this position is for you. We strongly encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

    Essential Functions

  • -----------------------
  • Processes and inspects all incoming individual in custody mail weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Processes money orders and inspects all outgoing individual in custody mail adhering to
  • administrative directives.

  • Receives and distributes all incoming institutional mail.
  • Distributes mail of individuals in custody who have been discharged, paroled, or transferred.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and one (1\) year of related office experience.

  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404\.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver's license.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
