Overview:

The Durham Bulls are looking for an energetic, team\-oriented, self\-starter to join a dynamic team as a full\-time staff accountant supporting the Durham Bulls, Bull City Hospitality, CPL baseball league, and our 2 CPL teams (Holly Springs and Zebulon). We are seeking a detail\-oriented, organized individual with strong interpersonal skills. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, and various month\-end closing tasks. The ideal candidate will be one that thrives in a fast\-paced environment with a natural curiosity to learn how all the systems work together.

Ticket Accounting

  • Reconcile \& record weekly bank deposits with Ticketmaster settlements
  • Prepare ticket revenue entries for baseball games and special events
  • Reconcile monthly deferred revenue accounts
  • Prepare weekly ticket reports for CPL teams
  • Food \& Beverage Accounting

  • Prepare revenue entries and necessary accruals for food \& beverage operations
  • Prepare commission statements after each homestand for our contractors
  • Prepare cost of sale estimates monthly
  • Assist with physical inventory and post adjustments to GL
  • Investigate all charge backs and work with Assistant Business Manager for resolution
  • Accounts Payable \& Accounts Receivable Processing

  • Assist with accounts payable during the baseball season and staff outages
  • Reconcile vendor statements for any discrepancies
  • Actively assist with accounts receivable by generating invoices, processing payments, and following upon overdue accounts
  • Month End Close

  • Perform and/or assist with bank account reconciliations
  • Actively assist with other month\-end closing duties such as booking recurring journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.
  • Perform and/or assist with monthly Baseball accounting as assigned
  • Process Improvement \& Special Projects

  • Adopt a continuous improvement mindset, identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline or enhance accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisors and peers on special projects as needed.
  • Contribute to other ad\-hoc financial tasks and projects as needed to support the team and organizational objectives.
  • Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Accounting

    Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

    Ability to learn quickly, ask questions and communicate effectively

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1\-3 years accounting experience or completed accounting internship

  • Full\-Time Hours: The standard workweek is typically 40 hours, Monday through Friday.

  • + Month\-end, quarter\-end, and year\-end close.

    + Tax season or audit preparation.

    + Budgeting and forecasting cycles.

  • Computer\-Based Work: Extensive use of computers, accounting software, and office tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
