- to our lab in Omaha. *This is an in\-person position; no remote work is available.*
- Transcribe all dictation of pathology reports, consultation letters and autopsies from the dictation system in a timely manner for completion and distribution to pathologists and clients.
- Review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology.
- Return dictated reports in printed or electronic form for physician review, signature, and corrections.
- Facilitate requested changes from clients or other staff personnel.
- Complete and distribute amended, addendum and corrected reports as needed.
- Communicate results to necessary laboratory personnel and/or clients via verbal, written, or computer link communication in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.
- Respond efficiently and in a timely manner to client requests for microscopic slides and/or paraffin blocks for consultative purposes, maintaining a log of all information as specified by laboratory procedure.
- Maintain confidentiality of all laboratory information according to Laboratory policy.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area according to safety standards.
- Maintain sufficient inventory of supplies according to Laboratory protocol.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the Laboratory.
- Participates in department meetings and Laboratory committee activities to maintain continuity, consistency, and communication within and outside the department.
- Participate in the development and evaluation of new laboratory protocols to maintain high level of department work product.
- Participates in the instruction of employees and in the Laboratory’s in\-service/continuing education program.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Laboratory Director, the medical transcriptionist will perform technical and clerical duties requiring a high degree of accuracy and independent judgment associated with pathology transcription.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School diploma or equivalent
· Prefer degree or certification in Medical Transcription
· Knowledge of Anatomic Pathology Terminology
· Attention to detail is a high priority
· Computer skills and ability to learn new computer program software
· At least 1 year of transcription experience preferably pathology transcription
· Good telephone communication skills
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office
