The Trust Tax Services Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the Trust Tax Services team within Huntington’s Private Bank segment. This role ensures the accurate and timely production of all fiduciary and tax reporting and assists the Wealth Advisors, Trust Administrators, and Service Specialists across the Private Bank. The Trust Tax Services Manager acts as a liaison to our outsourced tax preparation firm and serves as a subject matter expert on fiduciary tax administration. The Trust Tax Services team is accountable not only for tax compliance related to fiduciary and charitable trust accounts, but also for maintaining rigorous internal controls, including oversight of fund movement and account reconciliation. Beyond technical duties, the Trust Tax Services team assists a field of professionals in building trust and strengthening client relationships, advancing Huntington’s core value of Service Heart.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversight and management of annual tax compliance for Huntington’s Private Bank segment to ensure timely and accurate completion of fiduciary tax filings
  • Active involvement in the reconcilement and communication of tax payment processing for fiduciary tax returns (Forms 1041, 990\-PF, and 5227\)
  • Primary liaison between the third\-party public accounting firm and the service specialists, wealth managers, and trust administrators you will be supporting
  • Internal point of contact for escalation and resolution of tax problems
  • Standard management responsibilities such as management of departmental policies and procedures, risk assessment, vendor payments, and procedural audits
  • Review of Trust Agreements, Wills, and Estate filings to identify Generation Skipping Tax issues
  • Responsible for annual compliance filings with Federal and State governments relating to withholding taxes
  • Primary lead for informational tax reporting such as abatement of TIN matching notices, W8\-BEN review and Non\-Resident Alien withholding issues, and Required Minimum Distribution calculation and communication
  • Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (accounting major preferred)
  • 10\+ years of relevant experience in fiduciary tax and trust administration (leadership role preferred)
  • Background in fiduciary income taxation and estate taxation
  • Strong verbal \& written communications skills
  • Self\-driven professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in Excel with ability to work efficiently on data analysis and reporting
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Experience with FIS AddVantage, SEI Wealth Platform, Thomson Reuters OneSource, Ohio Business Gateway, and EFTPS Batch Provider
  • Detail oriented mindset that recognizes the importance of account reconciliations and proper documentation of transactions
