  • Director's Office at the Institute for Social Research is seeking a detail\-oriented individual with either strong paralegal skills or administrative skills for a short\-term file review project within the Survey Research Center at the Institute for Social Research. The selected candidate will review several linear feet of hard\-copy files containing a range of confidential legal documents, including in\-kind/partnerships agreements, memoranda of understanding (MOUs), and other contractual materials.

    This role requires strong analytical skills, discretion, confidentiality, and the ability to organize and synthesize legal information into a structured tracking system.

    Responsibilities\*

  • ----------------------
  • Review and organize hard\-copy legal files
  • Log and Catalog documents in a structured tracking system
  • Identify documents types and summarize key contractual elements
  • Develop an inital risk assessment framework and flag potential areas of concern
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Required Qualifications\*

  • -----------------------------
  • Previous experience in the legal field including working in areas as Administrative Law, Risk Management/Compliance, Non\-Profit/Tax\-Exempt Organizations, Intellectural Property, Contracting
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work on\-site in Ann Arbor at the Institute for Social Research Offices (426 Thompson) during standard business hours
  • Ability to life and move files/boxes
  • Desired Qualifications\*

  • ----------------------------
  • Experience reviewing contracts or legal documents, including agreements with foreign parties, is highly desired
  • Legal educational background

  • This is a short\-term (project) position estimated at 35\-40 hours total. These hours may be spread over 1\-3 weeks. This work is administrative in nature and is not considered legal advice. Successful incumbents may be offered additional project\-based work.
