##### Job Summary and Qualifications
To maintain a functioning coordinated process to reduce risks of endemic and epidemic nosocomial infections in patients of all ages and healthcare workers in accordance with infection control policies, and TJC Standards.
###### What you will do in this role:
- Coordinates the hospital wide infection control process.
- Performs concurrent/retrospective review and surveillance of all infection control and related employee health issues.
- Acts as committee assistant to Infection Control Committee. Provides surveillance data to the organization, including case findings and identification of nosocomial infections.
- Interfaces with the Department of Health to ensure continuity of care, appropriate follow\-up, and control of reportable communicable disease.
- Implements strategies to reduce risk and/or prevent nosocomial infections in patients, employees, and visitors.
- Implements strategies to control outbreaks of nosocomial infections when such are identified.
- Prepares/coordinates the ongoing review and processing of infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintains, prepares and distributes Infection Control Manuals to all departments.
- Serves as consultant/resource person for Injury Coordinator/Employee Health Nurse.
- Maintains documentation of case findings and identified nosocomial infections.
- Coordinates the Performance Improvement functions/activities for Infection Control, and ensures ongoing monitoring and reporting to the Infection Control Committee.
###### What qualifications you will need:
##### * Bachelors Degree in health\-related field (ie: Nursing, Public Health or Epidemiology) peferred
* Infection Control Certification (CIC) preferred
* 3 \- 5 years clinical experience; 2 years Infection Control experience preferred
* Knowledge of CDC, TJC, MDCR, OSHA requirements for infection Control
* Current Texas licensure preferred. Strong clinical and microbiology skills. Computer skills/knowledge
* Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
