Accounting Assistant Position Summary
The Accounting Assistant reports directly to the Financial Administrator and is accountable to the Finance Committee. This position provides support in all areas of financial operations and serves as a backup to the Financial Administrator when needed. This is a part\-time hybrid position requiring up to 16 hours per week.
Job Duties
Transaction Processing
● Manage accounts payable: including verifying invoices, coding expenses, and issuing vendor payments.
Reconciliation
● Process credit card transactions and reconcile credit card statements with expense reports, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
● Assist the Financial Administrator with monthly bank statement reconciliations.
Payroll Support
● Support payroll processing, verify employee timesheets, and maintain confidential personnel records.
Reporting \& Audits
● Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial reports for the Finance Committee, church business meetings, and audits.
Administrative Support
● Perform clerical duties such as filing, scanning, and organizing accounting records.
Compliance
● Adhere to internal controls outlined in the Financial Policies and Procedures established by the Finance Committee.
Additional Responsibilities
● Perform other accounting\-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution, and/or a minimum of three years of relevant accounting or financial experience.
● Experience working with a nonprofit organization is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Technical Proficiency
● Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data management and reporting.
Attention to Detail
● Strong accuracy in data entry and the ability to identify and correct numerical discrepancies.
Financial Procedures Knowledge
● Familiarity with collection, counting, and recording procedures is a plus.

Pay: $18\.94 \- $21\.85 per hour
