- Assist in the development of New Student Orientation programs; examples include New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, and Winter/Spring Orientations.
- Manage the planning, documentation, and implementation of New Student Orientation Programs.
- Connects students with faculty, staff, and current students, and facilitates a series of programs to support students’ development and success.
- Management of communications tools such as Slate, Mongoose, WordPress, Eblasts, online modules using Canvas or other resources, and on\-campus programs.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders on and off\-campus to implement and maintain high\-quality student\-centered programs and resources.
- Manage program budgets.
- Utilize best practices in event management such as communication, risk management, event flow, learning outcomes to execute key behind the scenes administration of events.
- Facilitate and negotiate contracts with outside performers and vendors.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Orientation \& Family Programming (OFP), the Assistant Director of OFP is responsible for managing an exemplary program of new student orientation and transition programs designed to integrate students into the university community, promote retention, and facilitate academic success.
The Assistant Director of OFP will select, train, and supervise graduate students and undergraduate student staff. In addition, under the oversight of the Director of OFP, the Assistant Director will manage program budgets and be responsible for all OFP student communications and publications, including the utilization of communication software such as Slate, etc.
The Assistant Director will lead efforts to ensure accurate coding and tracking of student participation and survey administration in order to assess and enhance educational and developmental programming for incoming students and their family members while maintaining the high\-quality delivery of important transitional services. The Assistant Director will work closely with staff in Admissions, Student Affairs, Center for Academic Advising \& Retention, Advancement \& Alumni relations, and all of the university’s colleges. During peak orientation season (typically, the summer months of May – September), this position will include extended work hours and weekend assignments. Otherwise, the responsibilities of this position are generally carried out during normal working hours.
