WHAT WE DO
Slingerland® Literacy Institute trains educators of all kinds—classroom and resource teachers, interventionists, tutors, and parents—so all students can learn. Slingerland® Literacy Institute trains educators of all kinds.
Slingerland offers many options for educators who need:
- Targeted areas of literacy/language training (Short classes)
- Training that is more integrated in scope (Basics classes)
- Comprehensive training of skills, research, and barriers to learning (Comprehensive classes)
- Pathway to Slingerland Teacher Certification or Instructor of Teachers (Slingerland trainer)

- Performing clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, and organizing documents
- Coordinating projects and managing schedules
- Assisting with order entry and processing
- Handle incoming calls and emails, responding or redirecting as necessary
- Utilize Google Suite for various office tasks
- Support office management in daily operations
- 1\-3 years experience and/or training in clerical/administrative work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- The ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and navigate complex situations effectively while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems related to the defined project goals.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks.
- Working knowledge with various computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Suite, QuickBooks Online, and web\-based programs.

The central function of Slingerland’s Front Office is to support our instructors through planning classes, ensuring logistics, maintaining vital records, and ensuring clear lines of communications.
As demand for our classes continues to increase, we are adding Front Office staff to ensure we offer the same high\-quality training in\-person and online.

Our Front Office is virtual. However, some meetings must be held in person in Roanoke, VA.
