St. Patrick Center provides opportunities for self\-sufficiency and dignity to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Individuals and families build permanent, positive change in their lives through safe and affordable housing, sound mental and physical health, and employment and financial stability.

Working collaboratively with individuals, businesses, government and other service providers, St. Patrick Center will end chronic homelessness in the St. Louis region through Housing First, an evidence\-based practice that tells us to remove barriers, do intake and assessment early, move people into housing and offer them support to achieve their goals.

Position Summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, through our service line of St. Patrick Center, is hiring a Behavioral Health Counselor for the Shamrock Program plays a meaningful role in helping individuals move from homelessness toward stability, independence, and hope. This position embraces a compassionate wrap‑around philosophy, giving counselors the opportunity to provide empowering individual and group therapy that truly meets clients where they are. You will work collaboratively with clients to build personalized Treatment Plans of Care that honor their strengths, goals, and unique recovery journeys. In this role, you will help clients reconnect with family, natural supports, and community resources that can become lifelong pillars of stability. The Counselor also coordinates tailored services—including mental health care, substance use support, and affordable housing assistance—to ensure each client receives the holistic care they deserve. You’ll engage closely with service providers across home and community settings to create a cohesive, supportive network around every client. With every interaction, you’ll document progress, celebrate successes, and play a vital part in transforming lives for the better. Core working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.Overview and Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with clients to develop treatment plan
  • Provide on\-going counseling/case management services for a caseload of clients
  • Contribute and collaborate to the ideas and processes of the team
  • Assist with housing placement based on desires of clients
  • Assess the strengths, desires and immediate/long term needs of the client
  • Develop or contact family and natural supports which exist in the community
  • Receive team input regarding employment, housing, mentoring, substance use and other immediate/long term needs
  • Assist in daily running of the Shamrock Club treatment program
  • Complete departmental paperwork
  • Document all referrals or services provided to client into Case Worthy/Service Point systems
  • Daily updates to electronic files in Case Worthy/Service Point to include any types of client contact, services or any internal or external referrals made for each client
  • Adhere to the strategies and goals outlined in the ISS and Treatment Plan
  • Address client needs by providing necessary referrals
  • Coach clients to make solid, well\-informed decisions
  • Review and clean up entry/exit data in HMIS monthly and run reports in HMIS as assigned
  • Attend quarterly HMIS and PATH User and Weekly Housing and Match Meetings
  • Maintain and update client records as needed
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and clinical supervision
  • Carry small caseload of MH/SUD clients in ICM
  • Act as point person for all Shamrock housing referrals made during WHAMM
  • Collaborate with Program Assistant daily, assist with administrative tasks as needed
  • Keep Memorial Service list current
  • Facilitate group education meetings as needed
  • Network with other related agencies
  • Respect client confidentiality, comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Ensure the care model by interacting with all other St. Patrick Center programs
  • Research additional benefits available to enhance services
  • Intake and assessment of all new clients entering the day treatment program
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Knowledge and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • BSW, Counseling, psychology degree or degree in related field preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of behavioral health and substance use disorder issues required
  • Knowledge of housing and other supportive service resources.
  • Experience providing crisis intervention and trauma informed services
  • Experience with wrap\-around services preferred

Pre\-Employment Screening
