JOB TITLE: PEIMS Data Technician WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt REPORTS TO: Director of Accountability, PEIMS \& SIS DEPT. /SCHOOL: Office of Academics DATE REVISED: July 2026 PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the District PEIMS Specialist in coordinating the collection and reporting of district Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data. Maintain accurate student records for the District; under close supervision, perform data entry including attendance, and Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification High School Diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to organize people, meetings, and events, with effective organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with school administrators, teachers, students, parents, and vendors Ability to work with minimal supervision Proficient in word processing, file maintenance, and using a personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases Minimum Experience: At least three years of experience on Windows based computers preferred At least three years of experience in student, financial, transportation, purchasing, inventory, or personnel systems preferred MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Maintain student records and process requests for student cumulative records and transcripts, including processing new student records and requesting transcripts and records from other schools, in accordance with state and district requirements. Maintain all necessary PEIMS setups in the district Student Information System (SIS) to ensure accuracy and timeliness, monitoring campus and departmental input of PEIMS data on an ongoing basis for submission to TEA. Run edits, reports, and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy, and produce reports as needed by campus and district personnel from PEIMS data. Verify student demographic, enrollment, attendance, scheduling, and program participation records for completeness and accuracy prior to PEIMS submission. Assist campuses in researching and correcting data discrepancies identified through PEIMS validation reports. Responsible for Personal Identification Database (PID) reporting error percentage standards and PID Enrollment Tracking (PET) as described in the PEIMS Data Standards. Attend PEIMS/TSDS\-related training and stay current on PEIMS\-related information from the ESC and TEA, including updates to PEIMS Data Standards and the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook (SAAH). Train and monitor campus personnel on TREx submissions. Create and maintain user accounts in SIS. Provide timely customer service and technical assistance to campus registrars, attendance clerks, counselors, and administrative staff regarding student records and PEIMS procedures. Maintain organized documentation supporting PEIMS submissions and district records retention requirements. Perform network application printing services in the areas of student information, attendance, labels, transcripts, report cards, schedules, honor rolls, etc. Use software applications such as Word, Excel, electronic mail, and other system applications, including mail merges and file transfer protocols. Work in a team environment and demonstrate good oral and written communication skills. Perform detailed work with thoroughness and accuracy, checking and re\-checking work as necessary. Comply with open records requests, district policy and procedure, and maintain confidentiality. Regular attendance; must be willing and able to report to assigned work site on a regular basis according to established work schedule. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Ability to communicate (written and verbal); ability to instruct; interpret procedures and data; analyze problems and implement solutions; maintain control under stress Physical Demands: Frequent in\-district travel; occasional out\-of\-district travel; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
