Certified Medical Assistant

PURPOSE: This position is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to the Healing Bridge Clinic. The Certified Medical Assistant will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high quality care to patients in a free clinic setting. REPORTS TO: Clinic Coordinator STATUS: Full Time \- Compensation is commensurate with experience. QUALIFICATIONS: · Must be fluent in Spanish (Patient population is \>30% Hispanic) · Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a clinical setting as a Certified MA · Current CPR/BLS certification preferred · Thoroughly skilled in contemporary office computer systems · Knowledge of electronic medical records system (AthenaNet) highly beneficial · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. · Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. · Strong decision\-making skills, verbal and written communication skills, diplomacy, tact, and attention to detail · Flexibility – the work environment requires quick changes in routine and exposure to a diverse patient population. · Able to implement policies and protocols · Ability to evaluate clinical operations and work with Executive Director, Medical Director, and Clinic Coordinator to improve systems while maintaining the highest quality of patient care · Knowledge of current trends in primary care DUTIES: · Prepare patients for examination, including taking vital signs, recording patient history, updating electronic medical records, and reporting any abnormal findings to appropriate medical staff. · Assist with screening patients for eligibility, under the GVHCP guidelines, and registration when approved · Dispense medications for patients as prescribed by the providers as needed · Assist patient in applying for Prescription Assistance Programs as ordered by providers · Assist in performing EKGs, injections, lab draws, etc. as ordered · Call patients and explain lab results as dictated by the providers · Provide and assist patient with completing financial assistance referral paperwork as directed by providers · Advocate for patients with hospitals and specialty groups for charity care · Return calls/messages from patients, vendors, partners, etc. · Participate in staff/clinic meetings in a meaningful, professional manner · Be an advocate for the Healing Bridge Clinic and our patients both internally and externally · Participate in community events/fundraisers when directed · Report concerns and ideas for improvement to Executive Director and Clinic Coordinator · Additional duties as assigned The Healing Bridge Clinic is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
