Legal Assistant / Paralegal Meyer, Fluegge \& Tenney, P.S. is a well\-established Yakima law firm committed to providing exceptional legal services in a collaborative, professional, and client\-focused environment. Our attorneys practice in a variety of areas of law, and we are looking for a highly organized, detail\-oriented Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our team part time for approximately 25\-30 hours per week. This particular position supports an attorney that primarily practices in Medical Malpractice defense. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a professional office environment, takes pride in producing accurate and polished work, and can manage multiple priorities while supporting attorneys and clients. Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment is strongly preferred. About the Position The Administrative Assistant will provide day\-to\-day administrative and organizational support to attorneys and help keep matters moving efficiently. A significant part of the position involves transcribing and proofreading dictated correspondence and legal documents, formatting documents in Microsoft 365, coordinating schedules, and maintaining accurate electronic and physical files. The successful candidate will be someone who is exceptionally attentive to detail, has a strong command of grammar and written communication, learns technology quickly, and can confidently manage competing deadlines. Legal experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who has strong administrative, writing, organizational, and technology skills. Key Responsibilities Transcribe attorney dictation accurately and efficiently, including correspondence, notes, and legal documents. Proofread documents carefully for grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, consistency, and accuracy. Prepare, format, and edit professional documents using Microsoft 365, particularly Word and Outlook. Coordinate and schedule meetings, hearings, depositions, appointments, and other time\-sensitive matters. Maintain attorney calendars and assist with tracking deadlines and important dates. Prepare and assist with filing correspondence, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents. Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other outside contacts. Organize and maintain electronic and physical files with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Enter and maintain information in case\-management and other office software systems. Assist with billing, time entry, and other administrative functions. Provide general administrative support to attorneys and other members of the firm. Prioritize and complete multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and responding to changing needs. Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and professional office environment. What We’re Looking For Previous administrative, clerical, legal, or professional office experience. Strong proofreading and grammar skills with exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to accurately transcribe dictation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time\-management abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines in a fast\-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Word and Outlook. Comfort learning and working with technology and software systems. Professional demeanor and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, courts, and other professionals. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information. Dependable, self\-motivated, and able to work independently while also being a strong team member. Preferred Experience Previous experience in a law firm or legal office. Experience with legal document preparation and filing. Familiarity with court procedures, deadlines, hearings, or depositions. Experience with legal practice\-management software such as Clio Manage or MyCase. * Experience working with attorney dictation or transcription.
