Job Summary I am a board\-certified 20\-year family lawyer in an established, well\-regarded firm in Austin. I’m looking for a contract or part time paralegal to begin work towards the end of August (my paralegal’s last day is August 28\). While I would like to find a paralegal interested in a long\-term working relationship, I’m also exploring someone interested in working on a contract basis either temporarily or longer term. This position can be fully remote, in\-person at our office in Austin, or a hybrid. Hours are flexible, provided phone calls and emails are responded to within one business day. I’ve historically had someone 20 hours a week (and paid a salary) but believe a highly\-efficient person could probably do the job in 10\-15 hours a week. I have historically compensated my paralegals at a competitive salary or rate commiserate with their experience and training. I am open to an hourly or part\-time salary arrangement. At a minimum I need: Court filings, real property filings, and court submission Drafting pleadings, case documents, and correspondence Case and file management I typically have 3\-5 active amicus cases at a time, and they are typically document and witness\-intensive. The remainder of my cases are mostly less document\-intensive. Communicating with and scheduling potential clients (I screen heavily so most of the potentials you would talk to will be cases I would take) Client management, i.e. my paralegal is my first point of client contact Client document gathering and preparation, e.g. sworn inventories Docket management Scheduling, e.g. client meetings, attorney meetings, witness interviews, etc. Sending mediation confirmation correspondence Closing files My practice is unique in that I no longer litigate for adults. I do not serve or respond to discovery. My goal is to provide my clients creative custom solutions with a focus on supporting as peaceful and respectful process as possible. My amicus work involves litigation, however, since my “client” is the Court or arbitrator, it’s much different energy than directly representing a parent in high conflict litigation. My ideal paralegal candidate has an exceptional client “bedside manner,” is responsive and efficient, exceptional at managing and meeting deadlines, very detail\-oriented, can assist me in organizing my practice and my day\-to\-day schedule and workload, and pleasant to work with. Our firm has a great team of paralegals and lawyers to work with, and I’m hoping to find someone who can join our team. I expect anyone you talk to who has worked with me will say that I am a good family lawyer, have good client bedside manner, am a very good communicator, creative problem solver, and am well\-regarded by my colleagues, as well as both current and past employees. My practice is approximately: 25% mediation/arbitration 25% collaborative divorce (and some agreed divorces) 20% amicus attorney cases 20% premarital agreements 10% assisted reproduction, e.g. embryo donation agreements, gestational carrier agreements and court documents I do a small amount of estate planning work as well. Additional Responsibilities Assist me with case preparation, including drafting legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence related to family law matters such as divorce, child custody, and support cases Manage case files efficiently, ensuring all records are accurate, organized, and up\-to\-date Interview clients and witnesses to gather relevant information for ongoing cases while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism Support court filings by preparing, proofreading, and submitting documents in accordance with court procedures Coordinate appointments, hearings, and meetings for attorneys and clients to facilitate smooth case progression Handle administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, phone etiquette, and general clerical support to maintain an organized office environment Qualifications Proven paralegal experience with a strong background in family law Familiarity with legal research platforms including Westlaw, LexisNexis, and procedural law knowledge Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast\-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective client interaction and legal drafting Experience supporting litigation processes including civil litigation support and document review Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) along with proofreading skills Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism This part\-time role is perfect for individuals passionate about family law who thrive in collaborative environments that value precision, proactive communication, and continuous learning. Pay: $25,000\.00 \- $60,000\.00 per year Benefits: Paid time off Work Location: Remote
