The Medical Assistant Supervisor works within a multi\-disciplinary health care team performing medical and mental health support services while managing a team of Medical Assistants. The MA Supervisor is responsible for the competency and clinical skills of all MAs on the suite. MA’s work within the care team to provide direct patient care, administrative and laboratory duties in support of interdisciplinary care teams and providers. Manages a team of Medical Assistants including supervisory duties such as: staff scheduling, timesheet approvals, coaching, weekly meetings with staff, and running reports to ensure quality care. 2\. Performs various personnel actions related to hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, counseling, and staff disciplinary issues. 3\. Ensures suite MA quality of care is appropriate. This includes acting as a preceptor when needed, ensuring suite MA staff has passed through competencies, auditing direct client care practices to ensure quality care standards are upheld in practice, and assisting with MA remediation when necessary. 4\. Champions and leads quality improvement programs for the suite. Shares knowledge with other MA team or inter\-disciplinary members on quality improvement \& LEAN methodology. 5\. Maintains a professional and confidential work environment. 6\. Provides for the safe delivery of patient care, in routine and emergency situations, within the scope of education and training 7\. Communicates significant clinic information to other healthcare professionals as necessary. 8\. Collaborates with other members of the multi\-disciplinary health care teams including but not limited to medical assistants, primary care medical providers, behavioral health providers, and nurse educator. 9\. Maintains EHR core competencies as evidenced by: a. Records all vital signs into NextGen which include BP, P, T, R, Height, Weight, \& smoking status b. Records all patient visits electronically into NextGen, ensuring that they include the PMH, PSH, FH, Social History, allergies, and medication reconciliation c. Records office procedures such as peak flow, nebulizer treatments, compression stockings, wound care, and DME according to standing orders, clinic protocols, or provider’s orders d. Records point of care results appropriately per standing orders, clinic protocols, or provider orders which may include A1c, rapid strep, glucose, HIV e. Uses the Inbox to manage tasks. f. Uses the Telephone Template to help record communications regarding a patient. g. Submits appropriate submissions to billing. h. Ability to enter immunizations into NextGen, including bi\-directional communication with CIIS i. Ability to scan documents into appropriate section of patient chart in NextGen. j. Proficient at using the EPM (Electronic Practice Management) system as demonstrated by: i. Ability to register patient in EPM. ii. Ability to check patient in for appointment using the EPM. iii. Ability to make an appointment for a patient using the EPM. iv. Ability to sign patient up for CICP using proper paperwork. 10\. Ability to perform check\-ins for all patients and work closely with the multi\-disciplinary healthcare team to achieve efficient patient flow and effective use of clinic resources. 11\. Obtains specimens and performs laboratory tests including urinalysis, urine HCG, hematocrits, urine drug screens, etc. 12\. Performs venipuncture and prepares blood and other specimens accurately for transport to the central lab; processes labs as needed after\-hours or at satellite sites 13\. Performs basic medical office procedures including sterile and non\-sterile procedures, application of dressings. Pulse oximetry, peak flow analysis, EKG, spirometry and other screening tests. 14\. Administers immunizations per clinic protocol including into the CIIS State of Colorado database. 15\. Assists providers and nurses with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care including chaperoning paps, preparing procedure trays, and other support as needed. 16\. Contacts clients in need of follow\-up for missed appointments or other chronic, complex care management outreach needs as requested. 17\. Answers the patient assistance line live incoming calls \& returns voicemails; handles all questions within MA\-scope; transfers calls appropriately to other disciplines PRN 18\. Schedules appointments, X\-rays, special studies, etc. upon request. 19\. Performs health record maintenance, including archiving, destruction, scanning and indexing of health information into health records according to established policies and protocols. 20\. Sends and receives requests for disclosure of protected health information according to established procedures, ensuring compliance with the HIPPA Privacy Act and confidentiality laws. 21\. Maintains given access to external health databases such as CORHIO, DH Epic, SCL, PDMP, etc. in order to provide assistance and information with hospital follow\-up information, suboxone prescription support, and other client care coordination with integrated health team members. 22\. Assists with other administrative and health operation tasks as needed, including copying, faxing, word processing, and data entry. Maintains clinic files that meet legal, auditing and grantor requirements as needed. 23\. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, including quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. 24\. Documents appropriately in Safetyzone for internal reporting of client or staff events 25\. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reviewing current literature, completion of required onboarding/orientation, annual competencies, assigned continuing education, and satisfactory attendance in disciplinary, inter\-disciplinary, suite, quality improvement, and all\-staff meetings 26\. Participates in team\-based or interdisciplinary quality improvement initiatives, at least yearly 27\. Ability to work evenings or weekend shifts as needed. 28\. Other duties as assigned.
