Job Type Classified – Judicial CPR Department D800 Superior Court About the Position About The Position: The Courtroom Assistant \- Classified provides coordination of courtroom proceedings and performs a variety of specialized legal clerical support duties related to the high volume, fast\-paced operations of Civil C ourt divisions. The primary focus of this position will be to support the Judicial Staff Trainer while also provid ing assistance with the intake of documents and ensur e hearing readiness in Civil C ommissioner divisions. This position may require travel to court locations. Prepares files, calendars, reports, trackers, and other materials used to support Civil Department courtroom operations, case flow management, training, and division readiness. Reviews case information, court records, dashboards, Cal\-Actis, data integrity reports, SSRS reports, and other case flow management reports to identify missing information, data entry issues, stalled cases, or matters requiring further review or action. Processes reports to ensure cases are being managed and cash flow management meets established statutory, rule, and departmental timelines, including Cal\-Actis and other Civil Department case flow reports. Maintains and updates SharePoint sites, trackers, schedules, training materials, manuals, calendars, and other department resources used to support Civil Department operations and training. Communicates with Judicial Officers, Judicial Assistants, Courtroom Assistants, court staff, and Civil Department Administration regarding case flow reports, data issues, training needs, division support, and operational follow\-up. Aids parties connecting virtually, telephonically, and in person to courtroom proceedings, and assists with courtroom readiness, hearing support, trial preparation, and division coverage as needed. Interacts directly with the public, jurors, attorneys, case managers, court staff, outside agency staff, court interpreters, MCSO deputies, court security, and other justice partners. Assists litigants, witnesses, attorneys, jurors, Judicial Officers, and court staff during proceedings, including support for courtroom technology, exhibits, electronic presentations, and jury\-related processes. Prepares, monitors , and troubleshoots courtroom and hearing technology, including digital recording equipment, white noise equipment, electronic presentation equipment, virtual appearance technology, Case Center, the Jury Selection Portal, and related systems. Supports jury\-related processes, including the Jury Selection Portal, electronic jury questionnaires, remote jury questionnaire procedures, and in\-person voir dire support. Assists with Case Center support, training, implementation, and follow\-up for Civil Department judicial divisions and staff. Assists with Civil Department training efforts, including rotation training, onboarding support, training material preparation, manual and document assembly, SharePoint updates, room and equipment preparation, and follow\-up support for judicial division staff. Supports Civil Department training programs and meetings, including Brown Bag training sessions, election\-related preparation, training logistics , presentation materials, attendance tracking, and staff communication. Utilizes court database systems, automated case management tracking systems, icis , eFile , SharePoint, Adobe, Microsoft Office, and other approved applications to enter, retrieve, review, organize, maintain , and communicate case and department information. Coordinates with court departments and support services to assist judicial division staff with access, software, equipment, technical support, service requests, and other operational needs. Works collaboratively with other divisions to provide backup coverage, training support, courtroom assistance , and operational support during periods of transition, increased workload, emergency situations, or department need. Provides back\-up coverage of Judicial Assistant, Courtroom Assistant, and related division support duties at the direction of Civil Department Administration. WorkingC onditions : Must be able to travel to any Superior Court location (Downtown, Southeast Regional \- Mesa, and Northeast Regional – North Phoenix) for coverage assignments as directed by Civil Court Administration based on the needs of the department . These assignments may be of varied duration (i.e., from a few days or a week to several months). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds. Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances. The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full\-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12\.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5\.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8\.82% for the defined benefit plan.
