Summary ----------- This position provides timekeeping and general clerical support for employees in Nursing Service. The incumbent will Perform all aspects of timekeeping for over 250 employees assigned to Nursing Service at the Sacramento VA Medical Center. The incumbent will perform administrative and/or clerical procedures to support a variety of office functions in support of Nursing Service. Duties ---------- Major duties include, but are not limited to the following: Performs all aspects of timekeeping for Nursing Service. Types the work schedules from handwritten copies completed by Nurse Managers/supervisors for all units/clinics. Enters employee work tours, leave, etc. in VATAS Timekeepers Menu. Keeps track of leave time available for each employee in Nursing Service. Posts Fee\-Basis employee timecards manually calculating hours worked multiplied by hourly rate. Teaches and trains employees how to use the leave menu. Assists employees in clearing exceptions. Performs typing work, whether from voice recordings or written material on either a manual or electric typewriter, and/or using word processing software and equipment. Performs office automation duties using such software applications as electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, spreadsheet, database and/or graphics. Integrates several types of software to generate specific working documents and forms such as spreadsheet, database, work processing, desktop publishing graphics and other related products. Selects appropriate system, application and format. Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda and other forms of written communication. Performs the following types of duties: edits letters, composes letters and reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, prepares public presentation outlines, and develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries. Provides reports, reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper attachments, or consolidating/coordinating submittals of information. Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed within the organization. Additional duties as assigned. Time\-In\-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time\-in\-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS\-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS\-4\. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF\-50 that shows your time\-in\-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
