This is a mandate for a builder. Most CMO roles ask you to protect a brand that already exists. This one asks you to architect a portfolio of brands, launch markets, and scale a marketing agency—simultaneously. We don’t need someone to polish decks. We need someone who can hold eight distinct P\&L realities in their head, switch from plumbing to prop trading without breaking stride, and build an agency that eats its own dog food profitably. If you’re looking for a single\-logo corporate gig, this isn’t it. If you’ve been craving a seat where the lines between startup scrappiness and operational muscle blur every single day, read on. THE WORK You are the marketing engine for our entire ecosystem. Your time is not split—it’s fused. You’ll operate across two fronts simultaneously: FRONT ONE: 8 Operating Companies You will own growth, brand, demand generation, and customer acquisition for eight diverse businesses, including: Home Services Health Services Real Estate Established European Shopify Storefronts (you’ll lead European expansion first, then orchestrate the U.S. market entry) Algorithmic Trading Additional portfolio companies This is not a “corporate marketing” role. You’ll build playbooks where none exist, tear down what doesn’t work, and run lean until the data tells you to pour fuel. You’ll have to be fluent in everything from local service SEO and paid social for DTC e\-commerce, to the trust\-building content and compliance\-aware funnels required for fintech and professional services. FRONT TWO: Our Own Marketing Agency You will step in as the leader of our internal marketing agency. It already serves five significant clients: 1 Law Firm 2 Trading Clubs 2 Home Services Companies Your mandate is to 10x this agency. That means refining the service offering, elevating delivery, and—most importantly—winning new, high\-value clients. You won’t be doing this alone. The agency has existing client relationships and a foundation to build on. You bring the growth architecture and the leadership to scale it. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YEAR ONE Portfolio Performance: Each operating company has a measurable, data\-backed marketing engine—no vanity metrics, just lead flow, revenue attribution, and customer acquisition cost discipline. European Expansion Traction: Our European Shopify storefronts are showing demonstrable growth in their home markets, with a clear, battle\-tested playbook for U.S. launch. Agency Growth Trajectory: The agency has a healthy pipeline, a refined positioning, and the team and processes to handle 10x without collapsing under its own weight. Talent Calibration: You’ve assessed the existing marketing talent, identified gaps, and built the nucleus of a team that can execute at the pace you set. Tomato: If you mention the word tomato in your communication you will get bumped up in the hiring process. THE SUPPORT YOU’LL HAVE FROM DAY ONE A dedicated Virtual Assistant to protect your time and handle executional overhead immediately. Direct access to ownership—decisions here don’t die in committee. A portfolio of real companies with real revenue, not a collection of vague “projects.” THE DEAL Base Salary: $210,000 Performance Bonus: Up to $100,000, tied to clear, agreed\-upon metrics across portfolio growth and agency revenue Full Medical and Dental Matched 401k Location: In\-office in McLean/Reston for the first 6 months to build relationships, understand the DNA of the businesses, and set the pace. After that, a blended WFH arrangement is standard—we need presence, not seat\-warming. WHO YOU ARE You’ve built and led marketing in environments that felt chaotic from the outside but exhilarating from the inside. You have agency\-side leadership experience, in\-house brand leadership, or both—ideally, you’ve sold services and bought them, so you know what good looks like on both sides of the table. You understand the difference between marketing a home services company to a local homeowner, a DTC storefront to a European consumer, and a trading club to a sophisticated investor. You don’t have to have done all three—but you have to have the intellectual range to jump between them effortlessly. You are a rainmaker who still cares deeply about unit economics. You can pitch a $200k client engagement and obsess over the cost\-per\-lead of a Google Local Services Ad on the same day. You’ve been in high\-growth, founder\-led environments.
