Job Description
Job Summary:
Harvard Business School (HBS) seeks an experienced professional to join Alumni Relations, specializing in Alumni Programming and Curriculum. This role delivers programming to a global alumni audience of more than 90,000 and supports the School’s goals of increasing lifelong learning and deepening alumni connections to HBS. Reporting to the Associate Director of Alumni Programs and Engagement, the Assistant Director will curate and manage content\-focused alumni programs and events in support of the School’s “Lifelong Learning, Lifelong Impact” strategic priority. The role’s primary focus is planning reunion programs, with additional involvement in virtual programs, conferences, and the Alumni Curriculum initiative, which curates content\-based events across the HBS ecosystem and markets them to alumni. Given the School’s matrixed structure, the Assistant Director will also contribute to cross\-departmental projects, programs, and events aligned with Alumni Relations strategy.
Job\-Specific Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with HBS faculty.
- Synthesize faculty research and presentation objectives and edit faculty text to meet alumni marketing needs.
- Identify potential alumni speakers/hosts as appropriate.
- Participate in alumni reunion volunteer meetings.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in Alumni Relations, Alumni and Admissions Marketing \& Communications, Media Services, HBS Initiatives, Career and Professional Development, Baker Library, HBS Online, HBS Executive Education and others.
- Evaluate and report on program effectiveness, based on both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Serve as a thought partner to the Associate Director in shaping and evolving the Alumni Curriculum, including topic\-specific learning tracks aligned with HBS’s strategic priorities.
- Help identify and curate programs, articles, research, and other content relevant to Alumni Curriculum tracks.
- Maintain a strong, active understanding of current HBS intellectual capital, school\-wide offerings, and emerging faculty research to ensure the Alumni Curriculum remains comprehensive, current, and compelling.
- Recommend new content partnerships and opportunities across HBS to strengthen Alumni Curriculum pathways.
- Execute the Alumni curriculum strategy by organizing and delivering curated content across defined learning tracks and alumni offerings.
- Build trust and collaboration by being present on\-site and engaging directly with colleagues and various constituents.
- This role is responsible for other duties as assigned, including support of various departmental programs and events including Reunions.
- Bachelor's Degree required with at least 5\-7 years of relevant experience
- Intellectual curiosity and strong analytical ability.
- Experience working closely with HBS or faculty, ideally on curriculum, research, or programs preferred.
- Must have strong interest and the skills needed to understand intellectual content and how to leverage it to create value for alumni.
- Team player with an eye for detail and skills to collaborate with multiple teams in a fast\-paced, high\-energy environment.
- Proven ability to prioritize and successfully manage several projects at a time while adhering to deadlines, showing initiative and communicating regularly and succinctly with managers and partners.
- Must demonstrate strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills and be comfortable in engaging faculty and high\-powered alumni constituents with poise, self\-confidence, and a friendly demeanor.
- Proven critical and strategic\-thinking qualities, sound judgment, flexibility, and creative problem\-solving are essential.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, and ability to quickly learn new technology.

+ This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be
determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

Work Format Details
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non\-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard\-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
