General Summary:

The VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Technician position focuses on using technical skills within BIM software for modeling, detailing, and drafting for both 3D and 2D applications. The support services we provide allow for more efficient planning, design, construction, and management of drywall, metal framing, and specialty scopes.

Responsibilities:

Technical Skills / Knowledge

  • Utilizing BIM software specifically for the drywall, cold\-formed metal framing, ceilings, and specialties trade
  • Extensive Autodesk Revit use for 3D modeling and 2D drafting
  • Extensive MWF plugin usage for metal framing modeling
  • Engage in multi\-trade coordination with extensive Autodesk Navisworks usage
  • Produce shop drawings for company determined range of products
  • Produce layout coordinate points for field use
  • Produce model based quantity take\-offs
  • Basic Autodesk AutoCAD navigation and usage
  • Personal / Interpersonal Skills / Knowledge

  • Reports to assigned supervisor
  • Manage time to meet project schedules and task deadlines
  • Task prioritization and flexibility
  • Manage files on share sites, network servers, and software platforms
  • Check and verify that completed work meets company standards
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement and knowledge base with BIM software and scope specific and general construction knowledge
  • Communicate design and constructability issues/challenges with the project team
  • Ability to work well as a part of a team and independently
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical instructions and construction documents
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
  • Attends industry activities as needed, and represents the company in a professional manner
  • Attend and engage in internal company meetings
  • Qualifications:

  • US work authorization (Required)
  • Construction experience: 0–2 years
  • Revit experience: 1 years preferred but not required
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office is required
  • Proficiency with MWF, Navisworks, Bluebeam, ACC and/or Smartsheet is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction, construction technology, information technology, or related industry is preferred but not required
