Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Secretary to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and rescheduling using various EMR (Electronic Medical Record)
- Greet patients at the front desk with professional phone etiquette and provide exceptional customer service.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing and collections related to medical services, including Medicare and other payers.
- Review and update patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with documentation review, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD\-9, and ICD\-10 coding for accurate medical billing and medical coding processes.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers, including answering multi\-line phone systems and managing appointment reminders.
- Maintain and organize medical records, files, and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to health information management standards.
- Support clinic operations by managing office supplies, filing, and performing clerical tasks such as data entry, typing, and using Microsoft Office applications.
- Assist with billing processes, including claims submission, follow\-up on unpaid claims, and collections.
- Perform other administrative duties such as faxing, scanning, and managing patient intake forms to ensure efficient clinic workflow.
- Proven experience as a Medical Secretary, Medical Administrative Assistant, or in a similar medical office role.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD\-9 and ICD\-10\), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
- Experience with insurance verification, Medicare, and healthcare reimbursement processes.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy clinic setting.
- Exceptional communication skills, including phone etiquette and patient service orientation.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, data entry, and health information management software.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
- Office management, clerical, and front desk experience preferred.
