Reports to Building Administrator Role OverviewTo provide administrative support and assist and relieve administrator of paperwork and impediments so that he/she may devote maximum attention to education and educational administration. Minimum Requirements
High school diploma/GED.
Three (3\) years' successful administrative experience and/or training.
Accurate typing/keyboarding skills.
Demonstrated experience and skill in a variety of relevant software and electronic communication tools, including presentation, word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Experience using Synergy (student management system) or compatible database program.
Regular and predictable attendance which is an essential function of this position.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent reading, grammar and punctuation skills.
Ability to maintain an organized office environment.
Ability to receive, answer and/or relay inquiries by telephone in a courteous manner and provides the appropriate response.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Training and experience working with population relevant to the assigned school.
Working knowledge of Board of Education policies and procedures.
Familiarity with a wide variety of technology tools and their use; including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher), Google Apps, iTunes, Apple App Store, videoconferencing technology, Google Suite, etc.
Role Responsibilities
Maintain school records, student schedules, student records, student entry/withdrawals, using the computer.
Maintain high level of confidentiality in handling school business, i.e., student transcripts, miscellaneous staff and student crisis information, pupil personnel cases, social services and health department referrals, parent interactions, etc.
Prepare and issue correspondence, both written and verbal, for school counselors.
Work effectively and positively with the public in giving and obtaining information, referring callers and arranging appointments.
Use appropriate computer programs to enter data.
Ability to construct databases and spreadsheets to manipulate data and graphically display information.
Responsible for maintaining student grade reports, completers and end\-of\-the\-month exit interview reports.
Process edit changes for student grades.
Forward student transcripts to, and request student records from, other school systems.
Work with Principal and Assistant Principals in handling of student course credit denials.
Manage the Integrade Grading System for the transferring of scheduling and grading to the Synergy Student Management System.
Maintain records of student conduct and academically ineligibility status.
Apply Board of Education policies and procedures as required.
Perform a variety of complex secretarial, clerical and administrative assistant duties independently, and at the request of administration.
Work with the principal to coordinate all planning, meetings, and practices for Graduation Activities.
Work collaboratively with principal in updating, maintaining, and using the scheduling program.
Complete and submits State of Maryland Work Permit for Minors.
Process authorization for State of Maryland Department of Motor Vehicle Administration Learner's Permits.
Act as the school's official "voice" of the Alert Now information program (writing, recording and initiating).
Coordinate schedules for visiting agencies for the guidance office (Military, College representatives).
Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
Perform other duties specific to the assigned department.Environmental Factors and Physical/Mental Requirements
